ESPN continues to be ignorant
Jul 7, 2025, 1:37 PM
|
|
Edit: I think making the article about proving “this hater” (Bill Connelly) wrong is giving unnecessary attention to a random analyst who used some statistic model to predict Clemson’s season.
Dabo doesn’t give 2 sh**s if he proves that guy wrong.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that Clemson has the best chance to win the ACC anyways.
Let’s not call him a “hater”, I’d rather just call him an idiot following ESPN’s propaganda?
Use of the word “Hater” kind of reignites the constant narrative, don’t it?
OP below
I’m referring to the article about Clemson having a chance to prove haters wrong
https://www.tigernet.com/clemson-football/news/espn-analyst-on-clemson-theres-a-chance-they-prove-this-hater-wrong-46625
There is never a time that Clemson does not have the opportunity
It has been like this nonstop since Dabo was hired
This isn’t some surprise it’s like this still.
And it won’t change unless everybody finally, and gives in to respect to Dabo
Pointless words and predictions by Bill Connelly. He knows the same amount that many people do about football. He’s just the idiot in that spot.

Yeah, but we haven't for a bit. He is saying this team may be the real deal and has the pieces to win it all, which would prove the haters wrong. Its been a little bit since we were a serious contender.

You think we have been disrespected non-stop since Dabo was hired?
Surely you jest.
Here are our preseason AP football poll rankings since 2015:
2015: #12 2016: #2 2017: #7 2018: #2 2019: #1 2020: #1 2021: #3 2022: #4 2023: #9 2024: #14
In reality, the greatest harm has come as a result of us failing to meet preseason expectations in recent years. After meeting or exceeding expectations from 2015-2018, we failed to meet expectations every year since, with the only exception being 2024 when we were predicted to finish #14 and we finished #14. Below are our AP poll finishes since 2015:
2015: #2 2016: #1 2017: #4 2018: #1 2019: #2 2020: #3 2021: #14 2022: #13 2023: #20 2024: #14
We aren't disrespected. If anything, we have been given a great deal of respect going into every season, even since our slide which started in 2020.
I'm not sure what you expect going into 2025, but we are being given a ton of respect by many pundits, even though we haven't really been a factor on the national stage in half a decade.

We aren’t diserespected?
Have you been living under a rock?
Remember in 2018 going into the national championship against Alabama, nobody at all thought we were a match
And that was the same any time we played in the playoff. Except for like Notre Dame that one time.
When we were legitimately at the top, people respected that moment, but not thereafter.
The transfer portal hate?
The continuous narrative that the ACC’s weak comp has anything to do with how good Clemson is
That 2018 team has been regarded as a top-5 team ever, and those people literally thought we wouldn’t beat Alabama.
The fact that everyone was even against Dabo and his methods during those times, it makes zero sense.
Clemson obviously went through a reboot Period. And with how things look now, we could be back.
But in a reboot period, most programs do poorly.
Auburn for example, LSU for example, FSU for example, etc.
They win one season, then have terrible season to follow it.
Winning the amount of game we did with DJ and those teams should be seen as miracle work by Dabo now.
And that could’ve been inferred at the time by analysts, who are supposed to be intelligent enough. That Clemson was just in that period.
But no, bash all over him while he’s down, and while they have the chance.
They only don’t when there is no opportunity to.
I could go on.
Dude you live under a rock.
Stick to Brownell d riding

That simply isn’t the case. A collection of media members, who are supposedly so hateful, have picked us to be the best or among the best teams in college football multiple times under Dabo.
Unfortunately, we have consistently failed to hold up our end of the bargain this decade. Nonetheless, many media members are still very bullish about our 2025 season, to the point that some are predicting a national championship. To be honest, that is a pretty big gamble based on our recent seasons.
You seem to like being a victim. You choose isolated examples of them “disrespecting” us or “hating” us and then using that to create this narrative that we are just little ‘ol Clemson on the ROY bus that nobody believes in. Please stop. Grow a pair. Your whininess isn’t a good look dude.

dude our ecord against SEC teams over the last 5-6 games is abysmal. We havent proven crap on the field in several years now. With a defense that was gashed by the run all year we certainly have to prove it on the field. Facts are facts and on field results are all that matters. Dabo refused to use the portal for years and we suffered a big talent dropoff. That allowed our rival and other ACC teams to close the gap on us. This is fact ! until we prove it on the field , the criticism is warranted. Losing 2 of 3 to USUCK, getting blown out by UGA, the SEC has bullied us as of late. Until we beat them, we are what we are.

ESPN is the lapdog and mouth piece for the sec and big10. To deny their bias against any other especially a big target like Clemson is just not living in reality.

No doubt there are haters out there and proving wrong is always a my opinion has long been that ever since Danny we've been given a nice nudge up to the point of being a legit contender. They do seem to back off that nudge once we are looking at or hoping for top 10 or better.
BTW whoever said that about what Dabo pulled out during the DJ years is spot on. I have to believe Georgia got into DJs head and he couldn't shake it, but Dabo found ways to avoid complete disaster (I still think Dabo should've benched whole still giving him chances to find himself again).

Yeah, I edited my OP to kind of show the consequences…
Important, the consequences of using “hater” in this exact context.
It’s possible there are some situations using the word “hater” in an article is fine.
But in a headline of a college football article? Too assumptive.
