Doraville MARTA Station Parking

Aug 29, 2012, 10:15 AM

I saw where some people say you need to plan on getting there early to ensure you'd be able to get a parking spot. I was planning on getting there around 10:30. Do you think that's early enough? If not, how early should we get there?

The Chamblee MARTA station has a lot more parking.***

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

That will be plenty early

The issue is that Doraville allows for long-term parking. But all of the stations on that portion of the line have parking decks/lots. If that one is full, just ride a couple miles and the next would have spaces.

I still say folks are crazy for taking MARTA. The wait to get on the train after the game is absurd.

Then what do you suggest? Waiting in traffic seems just as bad.

The Dome is easy to get in and out of

Aug 29, 2012, 10:37 AM

Just don't park at any of the lots on the downtown side of the Dome. Park at any lot off Northside Drive. If you are coming from 85 get off at North Ave. From Northside Drive you have 3 options to get back on the highway depending on the way they route you out of the lot. You cant take Northside Drive all the way back to 75 and get on 85 from there. You can backtrack over North Ave to get right on 85 or if you go on the opposite side of the Dome just go to I-20 and go back east about 2 exits and get on 85 North.

Avoid the Red Deck.

I live about 45 minutes north of Atlanta (without traffic). I've been back to my house before folks I know that took MARTA to a game even got on the train.

Edit: You CAN take Northside drive to 75

Don't know what I was typing there.

That's true - taking MARTA to the game is great but......

Aug 29, 2012, 10:41 AM [ in reply to That will be plenty early ]

the ride back is like being put into a sardine can - just be patient is you're taking MARTA from the game.

MARTA...you take your chances. I went to college in Atlanta. Please be careful where you park. You can park near the airport and take MARTA. Probably the safest place.

I wouldn't get there any later - there's a good amount of..

Aug 29, 2012, 10:38 AM

parking there but with the game from Friday night as well as our game Saturday plus all the other people that will be using it it won't last long.
