Where I can find series records and overall comparisons between Clemson and USC in all sports? I'm supposed to give a persuasive speech for a class on Thursday and I want to tell people why Clemson's Athletic Department is better than Carolina's as a whole.

It doesn't matter WHAT programs you have, only how good the ones you have ARE.
Clemson is consistantly voted the TOP public university in the state and no amount of whining and moaning and 'spin' will change that.

It ceases to amaze me how the gap in applicant SAT scores continue to widen, how the gap in Life Scholars continue to widen, and how the number of national accolades continue to widen, you guys still want to argue this point.

Clemson's average SAT scores and class ranks are higher than USC's.
Clemson is ranked higher in every publication as an overall university. Clemson's engineering programs are better than yours.
Clemson was Time Magazine's college of the year several years ago.

bringing up the fact that the only way USC can compete with Clemson is with programs that Clemson does not have.
The last thing USC needs is a law school at Clemson. It would probably take about five years for it to rival USC's law school, then it would quickly pass it by.
A Med School at Clemson would be an even worse idea, since it's actually fairly expensive, and there are already two programs in the state.
Rather than throwing away the state's money on duplicate programs (like USC's Medical School), Clemson chooses to focus on programs that actually help the state and society.

Clemson and USC are two different types of schools. It is fairly hard to compare them, considering the courses of study each school offers and focuses on. You also have to look at the size of each school when comparing average SAT scores, etc. Some school in the state has to allow more of the instate students into school, even if their SAT score are lower. It is good for the state and for the students, even if it means lowering the admission standards.

along with Francis Marion and College of Charleston. $CU admits more students becasue they desperately need the revenue in order to support a load of unnecessary programs like its engineering and medical schools.

Being the flagship university, USC must provide the most eclectic group of programs and allow the most number of students into the university. Lander, etc are good for the state as well, even if they are much smaller and don't produce near as many graduates.

on a multi-university team comprised of Clemson, Georgia Tech, and South Carolina students. We are sitting in the initial meeting, and trying to dole out the tasks, and one of USC's finest pipes up with the question, "Is air compressible". It was about that time that I started to seriously question whether or not I would ever want to work with someone from E-school at South Carolina - and that if their engineers comprised the majority of government jobs, if I wanted to live in the state for much longer.

I see your point. However, more than one school in the state needs to have some similar programs so students who want to go to school in SC can have a choice as to which school they attend. Clemson definitely excels in ag/engineering, but I'm sure there are students interested in engineering that would rather go to school in Columbia (as shocking as that may seem), so they should have at least that option.

It just pisses u off because CU is better academically and athletically than USUCK. CU is better in everything than perhaps basketall. Also Clemson has a national reputation. Few have ever heard of the redneck gamecocks on a national basis.
