Dabo is not doing things the right way

He’s simply doing things HIS way. Excluding true illegal or immoral activities (e.g. Rick Petino), there is nothing “wrong” with the use of NIL and the Transfer Portal to the extent that the top programs are using now.
Do I love it? No. Does my opinion of it make it morally or legally wrong? No.
Dabo is not right or wrong in his way of doing things. He’s unique. But being unique is not inherently better or worse, just different.

Exactly. Cannot really say why but people sound so dumb when they use that phrase. Hope I never hear it again but am sure we will. While I am at it, can we also eliminate the “living rent free in ___’s head”? Please, please, please for the love of all things good and righteous, stop using those two phrases. .

I agree. At the end of the day, those phrases do get very old.

So…what you’re saying is Dabo IS college football. That’s quite the compliment.
Because when you say “his way”… All he’s trying to do is run an actual college football program.

I wish that Dabo’s way was the only way because he and I align on a lot of topics. But it’s not. And it doesn’t make his way any more “right” or more “wrong” than the ways of other coaches. (Other than those who are actually breaking the law or doing immoral activities).
Dabo is choosing to run his program in a specific way, regardless of the results. He gets paid based on his results on the field. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think it is less about right or wrong and more about works or doesn’t work as it relates to results.

Who knows what the portal truly is. My idea is poaching other teams players and bidding wars?
Seen an article today where Saban mentioned Kiifin should stay at Ole Miss. Has folks there that can buy him any roster he wants?
Why I’m a little on the fence on how good or great coaches are because without talent you end up looking pretty mediocre. Top coaches right now in my opinion. Day, Kiffin, Lanning, Elko, Christobal? The common denominator in that group is big money. It’s all about the money. People can ##### about how or why we do what we do and have no clue on what we may have tried to do.
Folks say we have money. Do we? Do we have money to buy the players to compete with the guys I mentioned earlier, or are we using monies to retain what we have on our roster?

I believe earlier in the week, both Ben and Qualk were saying on their show that Clemson “has plenty of money” but their point was also this, how is it being and will be spent??

I’ve told people on here for years that money is not the issue
It’s how it’s being spent
The way it needs to be spent is not illegal anymore, but somehow someone doesn’t feel right about it. When you don’t recruit high school at an elite level and choose not to be a full participant in the portal to maximize the team, the end result is not gonna be good in this era of college football.
Yep, CDS job is to graduate players and make them good citizens; but it’s also to win games… A lot of them. Here’s hoping he can turn it around.
Don’t let anyone fool you… Tomorrow’s game is very big for the program.

I really wanna say this season is an eye opener for him. Everyone was crowing "Dabo way was right" this offseason, myself included. He thought he had proved that keeping high school recruits as the main talent pool, using NIL and rev share to reward and retain proven talent, and using the portal to fill gaps was the best way to operate. Then it blew up in his face, and I have heard a difference in how he speaks. First he was frustrated with the whole "If Clemson don't appreciate me I can leave" allusions. Now he is admitting the product on the field is not acceptable, and that it is the coaching staff and his fault. I believe he is finally ready to fully embrace the portal, and to use money to do it. Now I may be a homer. I was 18 when Dabo first took the job, and I believe in him from the very start. I believed he would take us to heights I had never seen before, and he did. He won two national championships, even if he never wins a game again, he is my coach. So, I guess you could say I am biased. I want to believe he will get things right, and that influences what I actually believe.
