Is ultimately who’s responsible for the run game problems. It’s Goodwin’s scheme. That was always the good thing about BV is his defense was easy to teach and understand for the players. He was very demanding of his linebackers and put the corners on islands. He also seemed to be able to interact with his players and fire them up.

I don’t think Eason and Rumph can be blamed for the run game d. Does anyone know what the auburn run game looked like when Eason was the d line coach there? It still all goes back to the scheme and how it translates to the players. You have to coach to the players ability.

It wasn’t just taking out Sammy that cost the Tigers that game. There was poor play calling with the ball at midfield and a lead. Then a poor decision to throw back across the field to end the game. But giving up over 250 yards rushing per game to end the year was one of the biggest reasons. Gave up 150+ rushing per game to 5 of the last 7 and 250+ to 3 of the last 4 teams. 9 games at 150 yds and 4 at 230 yds that’s unacceptable.

5th best roster in college football don’t leave room for excuses. If you watch the linebackers and ends in the run game. They take poor angles, don’t set the edge and have zero gap integrity. That’s coaching.

They also stand flat footed and on their heels alot, when we use to just attack wherever the ball goes, guys use to play and fly around like their heads were on fire. Def coaching no matter how people spin it.
