Clemson Lacrosse with another insane game!

Last night, the Clemson Women's Lacrosse team played Furman in another Fall Ball scrimmage and showcased some incredible firepower.
Furman is coming off a 14-4 season and a conference semi-final run last year, and added great recruiting class... and Clemson absolutely destroyed them. Clemson's scoring was constant and plentiful, and the benches started clearing in the 2nd and 3rd quarter.
Scoring Breakdown: 1st Qtr: 8-1 2nd Qtr: 6-1 3rd Qtr: 5-1 4th Qtr: 6-3 FINAL: 25-6
*Clemson was down 2 starters from last year's team, Kayla MacLeod and Brooke Goldstein. Brooke will be back next week.
Notes: - The #1 Recruiting Class freshmen continue to shine. Besides the scorers on offense (which were unbelievable again), there's a freshmen linebacker in the middle of the defense that is an absolute terror! Teagan Scott has now put together 3 solid Fall Ball games, and Clemson somehow got better after losing a graduate transfer that filled that role last year. She'll be a freshman All American -- bank on it. - Two other sophomore defenders that are playing at a high level are Jane Hilsabeck and Maddie Wrenn. Both are front line defenders at the top of the arc and are hitting a stride about 20 levels above where they were playing last year. They'll both be the cause of many turnovers this season. - The offense contines to hum like it never has before. The best teams in women's lacrosse have a high percentage of assisted goals, rather than individual players taking it themselves, and this is surely a thing for the Clemson Offense. Furman runs a zone defense, which requires offensive ball movement to score, and Clemson looked like a pinball game in front of the crease. It just looks so easy for them. - Another sharpshooter to add to the list is Junior transfer Mikaela Mooney. She had several goals last night, including a long range shot from outside the arc that was a rope. As good as that shot was, the highlight was this nonchalant, ridiculous shot that confused the goalie and several defenders:

Yep. Refs check the stick after each goal for compliance with rules.

The fall ball games aren't, but all lacrosse games in the season will be. The season runs from February to April, with the ACC tournament at the end of April and the NCAA Tournament in May.

I wish 😡. All I can depend on is social media and of course Marineoneclemson. This should be one special season. That's great news to hear about our front. We were pretty darn good last season... so to hear that we may be better is nirvana. To hold Furman to 6 goals makes me happy.
McLeod should be back for the season.
How's Spallina looking and how many minutes is she getting? Also, how about Penczek? Thank you M1C!!!!

That really warms my heart to hear Teagan is having an instant impact. Having a star from the hometown girl can only help grow the game in state.
We need to pack the stands this spring. Hopefully many of our fans understand many of our ladies are "ACADEMIC All Americans".... taking difficult majors. Any small nil received would be well deserved for years to come. There's no pro contract waiting for them.

Well written description of how exceptional these young ladies' skill sets happen to be ... I'm in Savannah but will be there to check out a scrimmage this fall and some games in the spring. Go Tigers!

IDK much about lacrosse other than the immortal Jim Thorpe was awesome at it and Clemson program is really good for being a new program & not having the local talent in the South to fill the roster. Great job by both the players and coaches.

We have a few exceptional players from this region... The freshman defender, Teagan Scott, is from Charleston, SC, and one of the best players on the team and co-captain, Kayla MacLeod, is from Roswell, GA.

Women's Lacrosse has passed Soccer and Softball

For our best shot at a Women's NCAA Championship. I fully expect one within the next 4 years. Softball and Women's Soccer could have a shot in that time period as well, but they don't have the star power that Lacrosse does at this point.
