Player of a non football sport to get recruited to play football at Clemson. Ol Danny used to raid the soccer team to get place kickers
...and they were very good!

Stan Rome played both and I seem to recall Murray Jarman playing center against Ralph Sampson, then getting drafted as a tight end.

With respect to Chef and his tremendous effort on the court, this football adventure has little to so with helping Clemson Football on the field. This is about getting Chef another year on the Clemson campus and keeping him on the payroll. Betancour, Dixon, Brooking and other young TE's will be able to smack down Chef on the field like he is a middle school player.

There is a huge gap going from shooting hoops on a basketball court to playing TE on a FB field than there is going from kicking a ball on a socker field and kicking a ball on a FB field, just saying...

One of the best WR's at Clemson back in the day, and finisher of "The Catch" was Jerry Butler whom I believe came to Clemson as a track man.

I believe Jerry was on a track scholarship before football one opened up as I recall.

Butler was an all time best at Clemson, when we did not throw the ball much!
Talent and speed was on par with Sammy Watkins, and his ability to catch the high point ball was on par with Mike Williams.
Just look at the picture of ‘The Catch’ enough said!

Chef has the opportunity to show the world next year! Great opportunity for Clemson in 2025!
