Chase Hunter update after 20 games

The latest on Chase's pace related to all-time Clemson scoring leaders. He has improved his pace since my last update by scoring 20+ against both Pitt and Syracuse.


Chase Hunter - 1585 career points

(10) Dale Davis - 1650
(9) KC Rivers - 1684
(8) Horace Grant - 1696
(7) PJ Hall - 1702
(6) Trevor Booker - 1725
(5) Jaron Blossomgame - 1733
(4) Greg Buckner - 1754
(3) Butch Zatezalo - 1761
(2) Terrell McIntyre - 1839
(1) Elden Campbell - 1880

Hunter is averaging 17.9 ppg this year. If he keeps that pace, he needs the number of games noted below to achieve each career scoring ranking. We have 11 regular season games left, and at least 1 post-season game. Hunter has a really good shot at finishing 3rd on the list and is gaining momentum to reach 2nd.

10th - 4 games
9th - 6 games
8th - 7 games
7th - 7 games
6th - 8 games
5th - 9 games
4th - 10 games
3rd - 10 games
2nd - 15 games
1st - 17 games

great post. I would guess if Butch had the 3 point thot available he would have been near Eldons number but perhaps not

I looked up Butch and he averaged 23.5 points per game and shot 82% from the ft line.

If anyone knows what he did after Clemson please share. He apparently lived in SC for many years afterward and dont think he ever played in the NBA.

Can't find much. Here's an article after he passed away. It says he lived in Spartanburg until '96 and then move back north to care for his parents.

Did Butch get four years or only three (freshmen team days)?

Edit - I see from the link above that he had three seasons. Maybe a 4th on the varsity was not an option.
