with nature's fireworks. Was the only thunderstorm I remember while there - was just after dark and we were set up for the night in a valley and the sky lit up like it was daytime. Never go camping when bad storms are coming !

You sure that was a thunderstorm and not some of my handiwork, an Arc Light B-52 strike?

Thanks for your service. I was on the other side of the planet. Don't recall what my activities were. Could've been working a swing, mid, day shift or a day off. Certainly hope you had no after effects like two brothers in law who were Marine combat vets there.

I was there at the same exact time .....July 4, 1970. We were out of the field and back in Danang and we celebrated in another guys hootch along with a Catholic Chaplain and many bottles of Mateus wine .....way too many bottles. The priest was right in there with us. The next morning I headed straight to the Corpsman's aid station for a Darvon. I have never since even been able to look at a bottle of Mateuswith out getting sick!

Thanks for your service. It is what Independence Day is all about thanks to all that served in the military like you. Freedom is not free and it never will be. God bless you and God bless the USA!

The 4th is NOT about Vets.
We "maybe" had one soldier at the time -
George Washington wore a uniform to all the meetings.

Might not be about vets. But it is about our independence. And without our vets there would be no independence over here. We owe our independence to our vets and all those who served and died for this country. Go Tigers!

Independence Day celebrates freedom from the "Mother" country of England and becoming ourselves as Americans,it has NOTHING to do with soldiers in Vietnam. Please educate yourselves .

Saw a Nam tshirt at breakfast last week that said "no matter how long its been, it's never very far away." He had a Nam hat on also. I'm sure that message is true for you.
