Call me greedy but

If I'm a recruit who wants to play at Clemson, I wait until really late to commit. That way I can take all of my official visits and get treated like a rockstar at a few other schools before I get locked into Dabo's no visits rule

I will call you, not a Tiger. If you are a DE and you take that approach you just got left out of this recruiting class. Dabo planned to take 3 DE this class and we just filled up. I'm glad your greed was more important than being a true Tiger.

That is the way it works in everything in life. Things of higher value (a more desired recruit in the case) you are willing to do more to get (different leeway given).
If your 3rd string RB fumbles he may never see the ball again. If your starting star RB fumbles you probably give him the ball again the next series. It's simply the way it works.

and know they can't visit elsewhere or the deal is off are told that--- the ones who are talented enough to write their own ticket aren't told if they visit somewhere else, we won't take them
it's just like punishment with players- you punish your players fairly, that doesn't mean equally

Clemson's staff tries really hard not to oversign and that's very respectable. Unfortunately sometimes it means you might have to play against a kid like Davis down the road.

I agree. Dabo is perfectly happy to continue to recruit you. He tells that to everybody who commits here in his 'this is what commitment means to me' spiel.
I also think he's up front with the recruits/their coaches in terms of how many people they are trying to bring in at each position. Recruits are welcome to continue to enjoy the recruiting process, but if others are ready to commit and they take your spot, that's the recruit's problem, not Dabo's or the coaching staff's.

...and you are a top recruit, you commit early to help YOUR TEAM win games. That way you use your status to help bring in more top recruits to help YOUR TEAM.
That is one big reason that makes Nkimdiche a better player than Clowny. He is actually thinking about the TEAM and he understands that what benefits the TEAM, benefits him.

I sure am hoping that Robert has been in the ear of Montravius...what a dream D-line that would make for us and a total nightmare for opponents.

I would also add that even "rock star" probably gets old after awhile. I would get creeped out by a bunch of middle-aged guys stalking me.

Exactly! But some only care about the party like a rock star. And all THE HAND OUTS they can get. Earning things is beyond that type. Commit early and help your future team is the best way. And ### taking advantage of others when you know thats what you are doing.

I really think that Dabo and his coaches make that call based on the individual involved, not on whether he wants to make other visits. I think they can tell who is "all in" and who isn't. The two recruits he dumped had other problems besides just their wish to visit other schools. And Lane was extremely highly ranked when he let him go, so I don't think that matters as much as others seem to.
