Buc-ee's review
Dec 21, 2022, 10:16 AM
|
|
TRDJ recently went to Buc-ee's. ZOMG, this is a 'murican experience that is a MUST DO.
When exiting the innerstate (95 in Florence) it was clear that it had been rerouted some way for traffic flow. Hmm. This place must be grande I thought.
I pull in. Cheese and rice, there was an entire forest of gas pumps. Over 100. None for trucks. And the place was busy...not full, but like MOST of those pumps were occupied. Parking near the store entrance was full.
TRDJ fills up with petro and meanders over to park. When approaching the store entrance, I feel right at home as there are dozens (maybe fiddy) of hispanic dudes all dirty and in uniform from a long days work standing shoulder to shoulder across the front of the store POUNDING food.
Inside was.....sensory overload. A bustling market I imagine along the likes of the Bakaaraha Market in Mogadishu. Probably 100+ workers in there mostly making food.
YUGE selection of hot sauce, beef jerky, spices, etc. All of the convenience store normal fare. A section that looked like cracker barrel. Areas that looked more like Academy sports than anything. Christmas decor abound, Buc-ee's gear everywhere. Part K-mart, part South of the Border, part QT, part Cracker Barrel, and a hint of REI.
You howngrie? All the food. All of it. Seemingly anything that could possibly be made with brisket was there, hot, fresh, and ready to eat. Food appeared fresh and yummy. Non-brisket offerings aplenty as well.
Need a scope for your rifle? A pair of Ray Ban sunglasses? A tent? Huk clothing? Shoes? Paintings? A deer feeder? Grill or smoker? Marine batteries? How about a new wardrobe? A Clemson man cave road sign? Looking for a $600 cooler? New barware? A long metal paddle to stir ya crawfish? Boys...they have it ALL.
It's not the cheapest place on earth but not horrible either, and it depends I guess on the product. Gas was on the lower end and it might be the last place on earth you can still get a bag of ice for $1. On the other end of the spectrum the beef jerky was a cool $35+ per pound. Brisket sammies were like $9 but did look hearty. The brisket, egg, and cheese breffist burrito was DELISH but also like $6.
Wood recommend. Dew take wallet. Dew NOT pass up a chance to visit, and DEW give yourself at least an hour.
The end.

They really need a new website "People of Bucee's". It could compete with "People of Wal-Mart" and would probably win.

I got a bottle of ghost pepper "sweet and hot".

It was labeled "hot", which I assume is a step down from "fiery hot". Haven't tried it yet but am excited about it.

Ok. So people, I assume artists, paint pictures.

They are on canvas or paper or something, and may or may not have been framed.
These are hanging on the walls in the entrance to the bathroom. Side note: YUGE bathrooms, and very clean.
Those paintings are for sale. You can buy them. I saw one of a rooster. Didn't pay attenion to the others but there were lots of them, like maybe 20 or 50 or more.

And I'm right near the loo in case the brisket was undercooked or something ?
Sounds magical.

We were helping a rehab facility for women w small children, by building single family split homes. Good times.
Anyway, this town was in the middle of no where and the only thing around was a Buc-ees and we all would go once a day in the church van to buy any supplies needed. I was blown away with the size and selection.
