PBR was a fav of mine as Clemson student in the 60's. Few choices back then, all beers tasted about the same. Now many choices are available, but cost much more. My main beer now is Pilsner Urquell. Keep in mind I am by nature a honky tonk RedNeck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N3iVHxP8FQ
By accident discovered adding some tonic water to beer was pleasant. Today after having a tooth cap glued on again (2nd time in two weeks), picked up a case of PBR to try with tonic water as it is half $ of Urquell or Mama’s Little Yella Pils which I also like.
The results are mixed, but I recommend it. Quinine also helps with malaria.

Just made me idly curious: does anyone remember Tuborg Gold from the mid 70s? I can’t recall if it was any good, but we drank a lot of it. I don’t know when or why it dropped off the map.
At least PBR is still around. I’ve never been a fan - it has a hint of sweetness I don’t like. That, and the frisson of rusty metal. 😖

Tuborg is a Danish brewery. The beer was the choice of my favorite fictional book character - Travis McGee. The actual beer is good.
My memory is they decided to hit the American market. Instead of sending us their beer, hired a Canadian brewer to make beer and bottle it under their name. It was in a Tuborg bottle but same common slop as all the others. I bought it due to the name, no wonder it failed.

I was a Blue Ribbon man too. But in college, we drank Old Milwaukee because it was 2 oz. more and was 20 cents cheaper.

Drank that when dating the Bride. A 6 pack of 16 oz was just $2.

My best friend from high school would drive around Johns Island all day with a 6 pack of Old Milwaukee on the “shelf” behind the back seat of his Chevy Malibu and then drink it after it had sat there in the sun all day. The beer had to be 90 degrees. I like my beer cold.

Frognapper, , I remember those. Used to stop and grab 2 after 2nd shift to get me home. Open container law didn’t exist then.

Seems like you could get a 6-pack of Busch 16 oz for $1.19 in 1972-73 but I could be wrong, it was the cheapest -why we drank it.

Maybe for some. My opinion of the top selling American beers is they are nearly the same. I doubt in a blind test one would prefer this one over that one.

Ty for the song. Haven’t heard that since PBR had a measurable market share. They came out with a light version a few years back and was pretty good. Can’t find it anymore

About 10 years ago when my daughter was still in school at Clemson, Tiger Town Tavern, or Triple Ts as the kids call it, held the distinction of selling more 16 ounce PBRs than any other location in the country. Not sure if that is still the case but I found that interesting.

Oddly enough, Boones Farm was my drink of choice while at Clemson. And the occasional Busch.
