Big10 and AAU

The Big Ten will probably only look at Universities that are members of the American Association of Universities (AAU). All current members are in AAU except Nebraska, but they were members when they joined.

Neither Clemson nor FSU are AAU members. Is Clemson working on joining the AAU?

Yes it's called Clemson Elevate.

"Clemson University is working to gain membership in the Association of American Universities (AAU) through its strategic plan, Clemson Elevate. The plan's goal is for Clemson to double its research expenditures by 2035."

We discussed this topic at length a few months ago. It will take many years to achieve AAU status, but some don’t agree.

In the end, if Fox wants us in the Big 10, it will happen, AAU or not. I personally think we are a better fit for the SEC. But what is going to happen is a complete realignment of teams and conferences. That’s where we are headed. I think it will take 5-10 years, but it could happen sooner if some posters are correct and if the courts lend a hand.
