Is the best sports movie I have ever seen in theatres. Only 25 so didn't see some of the others on the list but I remember leaving that movie with such a feeling of inspiration

The movie about Brian Piccolo, the WF player who died in the 70's . Think it was called Brian's Song , and the scene with he and Sayers in the Hospital room .
Gut wrenching .

I think it looses its luster in light of the Sandusky mess but still one of the best.

all great suggestions, here's another underrated one I forgot. If it wasn't for Keanu Reeve's mediocre acting it would be a lot higher on this list #GBaby

I challenge any grown man to watch the movie from the beginning and not shed a tear:

I read once where a psychiatric study was done to determine if the chemical composition of emotional tears was different than pain tears and they showed the subjects this movie.

This isn't from a movie but it was definitely a very sentimental sports moment. Tiger woods wins best athlete at the espys.

I didn't know pulling a firearm during league play was illegal until I saw this movie but now I know. Very informative. Plus, Bunny Lebowski really motivated me to start carrying large amounts of cash on me at all times.

"Hey Dad ... you wanna have a catch?"
Aug 29, 2016, 5:43 PM
|
|
#1 by far in my book.
And a twist ending that I never saw coming all through the movie ... all through this wonderful film, I wondered where exactly it was all headed. And then when it came time for the "big reveal", it hit me like a ton of bricks! I bawled in the theater and I still tear up every time that scene comes on TV.

same here, I'm lucky to still have my dad around and we watched that recently..very touching moment. I remember thinking the first time I watched it, what's in it for him..when Ray asked "What's in it for me!?" only to find out that seeing his father in his prime and playing catch was his reward for building the field
