Attending a church whose core doctrines you disagree.

@Bigdog
How can you faithfully attend a SBC church and allow your kids to be taught by them, when you totally disagree with all their major points of doctrine?

The following is the minimum statement of doctrine your church must adhere to to remain in fellowship with SBC

Likely to be seen and heard. Could be from a small town where people talk if you're not in church. Tbf growing up baptist I was full of doubt too and hated going.

“Must adhere to”

Jesus said love god love your neighbor.

I couldn’t care less about your doctrines and core beliefs.

I’ve noticed you never address when errors and contradictions are brought up. The only way you can believe this is to hold your nose and pretend they don’t exist.

The “church” doesn’t believe anything.

There are several hundred individuals that gather every Sunday who do not all see it the same way.

Nothing wrong with that.

A SBC church affirms the 200 BFM. Ask your pastor “Does our church affirm the 2000 BFM?” and tell me what he says.

You need to be worried about what Jesus thinks of your laws and traditions. Maybe you should read more of the gospels and less of Paul.

I have no problem discussing those things. This thread is not about those things. This thread is about why would someone disagree with all the foundational doctrines of a church, yet still attend that church.

Just assume for this discussion that you are 100 percent correct in your beliefs. Why would you attend a church whose doctrinal statement affirms what you so strongly disagree with? Why would you keep your beliefs that you are so confident in, secret from the leadership of said church? Why would you allow your children to be taught such error?

Because I believe the message at its core is harmless.

I firmly believe you should love your neighbor. Doesn’t have to mean I believe the man who said it was god.

Everything is not as black and white as you make it. But I understand why you think like that. You are in a belief system. You do not read the Bible for what it is. You are told what it is. I have been there.
