Dean Smith had a 100% graduation rate among his players for many years. It is now obvious why with all the epidemic academic fraud at UNC. I wouldn't accept all these numbers at face value.

engaged in similar type academic fraud unc has been linked to. Because that would be a serious error.
No, all Clemson's academic success within the athletic department is due to the hard work and dedication of the folks in Vickery.
Interestingly, usuck built their own "Academic Enrichment Center" several years ago and like most things academic at that "school", it trails most of the rest of the country.

It's pretty obvious that it is utilized. Apparently, a very large percentage of "student athletes" (loosely), that attend the USuCk have no intentions of even bothering with academics.

What do both schools have against African-Americans

That would make them graduate less of them? That seems mean.

I think they failed to account for those entering the draft

I think they failed to account for those entering the draft early. We are lucky at Clemson that some come back to finish their degrees.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, Spurdick always refers to

"that team in the upstate," not that school in the upstate. Somebody will say I'm splitting hairs, but I don't think so. Spurdick only cares about getting players into "school" so they can help his team. He couldn't care less about anyone getting an education, much less graduating. The fact that there are academic requirements is nothing but a pain in the butt to him.

This should be HUGE to recruits and their families.

This topic has been swirling around for days with many people arguinng that it doesn't matter. It should matter to recruits or at least to their parents. Even though most players start the process with the idea that they will be first round draft picks, most will never see an NFL field. The opportunity to get a free education is a huge advantage in life. The fact that Clemson does such a great job at graduating players should be a major factor in recruiting, and I'm guessing it is.
By the way, it is even more impressive considering the fact that Clemson is a more challenging school. I realize that is a subjective statement, but I do have degrees from both schools.

So what do you want? Student Athletes or a good football team?
My daughter was accepted at Alabama and never sent in her high school transcripts or SAT scores. (She didn't go)

based on Clemson's solid recruiting classes during the time span at issue, we can have both.
