Anyone else noticed our 2025 Top Target recruits at WR?

That current list is a little underwhelming. We have (1) 4* prospect and (2) 3* prospects, both are only 5'7" and 5'11", respectively. Hopefully, we will add some more over time but that just surprised me a bit. We had such a good WR signing class for 2024 that I was hoping for a continuation of talent of that level for 2025 as well.

If a 3* kid is faster than a 4*, give me the 3. Results count, not stars.

Stars don't matter as much but at the skill positions they do seem to matter a little more. I'm OK with a good, fast 5'11" in the slot but 5'7" seems a bit of a stretch at D1. I think Westco at 5* matters...

Speed kills--that's one thing that's lacking on the field right now (with the exception of Williams and Brown). But here's the bottom line: It doesn't matter how many stars they have if we can't develop talent---if we can develop them, great. If not, then it's a problem.

I agree with you. Speed can't be taught but good technique can and probably matters almost as much. If we can't transfer that and make progress, then speed loses some of its value.

Williams isn’t especially fast. His special attributes are superb hands, toughness, lateral movement quickness, stop-&-start quickness, and the discipline to run his routes vigorously every time (no loafing).
It goes without saying that A.Williams doesn’t need superior size and speed to be a special player for us.

Yep, as I mentioned, good technique can overcome a step slower if taught right...

I believe Brown is our second fastest healthy WR behind Stellato.
Cole Turner has been reported as the fastest, which may be true.
Williams is in the same category as Collins in terms of speed, but Williams catches the ball better.
I want to see us be able to get the ball deep to Stellato.
It seems like at least a couple of times a game he beats his man deep and Cade either doesn't see him or can't get the ball to him as we saw early in the ND game.

Cade has at times floated his deep balls which allows a DB to catch up to the receiver. I'm sure that is something in his technique and footwork they will work on in the offseason.

The limited video on V. Brown looks good.

Vernell does have a 4* rating from ESPN and has some good programs chasing him which is a good sign. His size at the slot would be fine.

Nothing wrong with having a couple of smaller guys every class if they can fly and are quick cutters. Some of the great WR's of all time were under 6 feet tall. Also helps the special teams when you have those little guys with some speed and wiggle. Renfro is 5'10". The greatest slot receiver of all time, Wes Welker was a short dude, too. They have their place and are a needed commodity.

Wesco & Moore in 2024 is closer, therefore of more importance

Both have nice size and very highly rated/recruited.
Trust the coaches, those small guys can be twitchy quick and make a huge difference with great route running. See Hunter Renfrow for reference, he was such an important piece to the puzzle
