We’re already giving beyond what has been given before and on per year basis getting nothing we haven’t gotten before. Even now. If he beats Arizona he’ll finally give you something to brag about that you don’t have to lie and misrepresent to make look good.

Viz, I’ve been hyper critical of Brad and think JK is a loser troll that for some reason has a weird anti Dabo fetish. That being said beating a 3 seed to advance to the sweet 16 for the 2nd time in 6 years is a huge accomplishment. We were underdogs in both tournament games. I have been completely surprised by this tourney run especially after the ACC debacle. Clemsons 24 recruiting class is currently in the top 25. Let’s see what happens the next couple years.

I'm not trying to take away from that game and it is the deliberate situation within this board that he (and others) create. Even actual tv reporters are in the locker room asking "What about Brad!!!" rather than "How awesome was Chase tonight" or "were you worried when PJ got in foul trouble" or even "what did Coach say to settle y'all down and close it out?" Nope, straight to PLEASE TELL EVERYONE HOW GREAT BRAD IS AND HOW MUCH MONEY HE DESERVES!
I'm not surprised if I'm being serious. This team played like a Top 10 team for the first third of the season. If we beat Arizona, we've beaten either possible Elite 8 opponent. Then, once it looked certain we were in the tourney, the team relaxed and lost a bunch of games it shouldn't have. Instead of figure out why this coach starting airing grievances and assuring everyone they were definitely in the tourney this year. He basically told the team to not worry about the ACC tournament and they got demolished. He has always done this. Produced under pressure. I think he underestimated the teams ability to absolutely crap the bed against BC and felt like maybe he really did need to produce this weekend.
So now the big litmus test becomes this: Brad knows his next contract is secure. His players unloaded emotionally as though they had just won a national title last weekend. Is he going to find a way to put that behind them and play this weekend like they did last? That's the test of whether he has truly turned a corner as a coach. I don't think beating a 3 seed to advance to a Sweet Sixteen is an unreasonable expectation of a coach in Brad's position. No one has ever coached at Clemson with anything resembling the investment made in Brad and I'm beyond tired of the insistence that Clemson has an anchor around its neck at basketball.

They have wanted that for 50 years
Never have had consistent tourney invite every year.
Since 1939, (85 years), only five NCAA Basketball teams made the Tournament over 50% of the time. Only 26 teams have made the Tournament 30 or more times, aka 35% of the time.
Today there are 351 Div 1 basketball teams. 10 more are transitioning into D1. There are currently 68 bids possible each year (32 automatic qualifiers, 36 at-large).
36 at large bids equates to approximately 12% of remaining Div1 basketball teams make NCAAs after automatic qualifiers.
This post is not to say Clemson could not become a more consistent invite to the NCAAs. It is only recognizing that it would improbable to suggest Clemson fans think the team should make every year.

For whatever reason, Purdue has a long history of basketball success where Clemson does not. So equal funding will not overcome the differences between the programs

Are you aware that Purdue had virtually no history in basketball prior to tourney expansion? Four appearances. It was not until they hired Gene Keady in 1980 that they became a significant program. They played basketball for almost 100 years before that. Lest you think Keady therefore makes an example of why you should have patience with a coach the way we have with Brownell, Keady may the tourney 10 times in his first 14 years. You pretend our "long history" prevents us from ever being better than whatever Brad has already given us. You responded to me once stating unequivocally that Clemson CAN NOT win a basketball national championship. That it is a program that has to accept a lower ceiling. If Brad goes on to win one you deserve as little part of the celebration as you think I do for think Brad isn't capable of getting us there.

Well said. Making the tourney every year is a ridiculous expectation. Every other year is reasonable.

We have reached that point. 46 wins in the last two seasons. One losing season in 14 years. Clemson is winning consistently.

That really isn't all that Clemson fans want. We had that with OP. 3 straight tourneys with 1 and done in each. Every team with 20+ wins. 1 an ACCT finalist. Exciting teams and games. And fans moaned, griped and complained that we couldn't win in the NCAAT.
Expectations ALWAYS increase. If you get what you want, then you want more. That's why BB will never be approved of by some. If he had gone to 7 NCAATs, then they would demand it should have been 9. If 9, then 11.
A certain segmemt of fans, including Clemson's, will always find something to complain about. It is just how it is. Of course, they would never apply the same standards to themselves. Only other people. Once you accept that, it is easy to laugh at the crazies, even if it is entertaining sometimes to read their nonsensical drivel.

Yearly tourney invite is not even remotely realistic

Maybe if by "yearly" you mean 75% of the time or something, we may be able to achieve that with the right coach. We aren't going to the dance literally every year though.
