We claim one now.
We’ve fallen so far behind in basketball, it’s laughable.
3rd in the ACC isn’t what it used to be. Simple facts.

The ACC is the 4th best football conference and pretty much always has been. The ACC is the 5th best basketball conference after being the best for decades. So it has fallen below football’s level. And we still don’t have a conference title in basketball. Just for clarity’s sake.

A conference cannot be judged by its best team alone. By that logic the ACC is very likely the best in basketball this year.

GOOD OLD VIZCOOT. SOMEHOW PLAYING IN THE SH!TTY ACC WE HAVE MANAGED TO PLAY IN 8 OF 12 FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS. WON 2 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SOCCER, HAVE MADE IT BACK TO PROMINANCE IN BASEBALL AND ARE TRENDING WELL NATIONALLY IN BASKETBALL. WHY CARE WHAT THE ACC IS LIKE IF WE CAN STILL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS.

I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE ACC, THE SEC, THE BIG 10 OR ANY OTHER CONFERENCE. I CARE ABOUT CLEMSON. BUT HEY IF YOU GOOGLE IT YOU WOULD FIND THA ACC WINS MULTIPLE NATTIES EVERY YEAR IN VARIOUS SPORTS.

Weird, I was responding to Shack who was the one denigrating the football conference and our football program by proxy. I was just adding clarity, and I said nothing about baseball or soccer. Had you asked, I would have said the ACC is still a top conference in both. But don’t let facts get in the way of your weird Tnet grudges.

We don’t have a bad team, but beating up on a weak OOC schedule and then against the terrible ACC - where only 1 team is ranked - is nothing to be proud of.
I don’t care if we are football school or not, losing stinks. Quit making excuses.

Two ACC football teams made the 12 team playoff.

2/12 = 16.7% of playoff teams were from the ACC.
The ACC would have to get 11 teams in the NCAA Tournament to match that, and I just don’t see 11 getting in. With that said, it’s nearly impossible to justify ranking ACC Basketball ahead of ACC Football.

but to compare a 12-team playoff to a 68-team tournament is ludicrous. Especially given the fact that teams such as Uconn, Memphis, Butler, and Gonzaga compete at a high level in basketball.

How would you even begin to measure such a thing? Pretty sure the basketball teams would win at basketball and football teams would win at football. But injuries would take a much quicker toll on the basketball teams and the football teams would eventually dominate both sports.

LOL! Not sure about Baseball. Not many ACC programs ever won the CWS.
THE SEC doesn't have soccer. SC are the only two with soccer and they play in Conference USA I believe. If the SEC had soccer they would dominate too.

When you have the one major media outlet, ESPN, constantly promoting one conference over and over, it’s easy to see why. What they say matters. It’s all the kids see and hear.

This campaign of SEC promotion and ACC bashing has been going on for over a decade. Maybe 15 to 20 years. They did it while Clemson made the CFP title game 4 times in 5 years and won it twice.
It has been nonstop and gave rise to one of the biggest scumbags in sports journalism, Paul Finebaum. Alabama 2018 was one of the most overrated teams in the playoff era and it was because ESPN built them up the entire time. The SEC was not as good that season but you wouldn’t have heard it from them.
The money helped them complete the takeover of all of college sports after the extensive propaganda was ingrained in the malleable minds across the country.

money is how you recruit these days. If we're left with this particular system then over time money will restructure the power brokers in these sports and you'll see a definite boundaries between the have's and the have nots.

College football and basketball players are now procured through auctions. ESPN pays the SEC programs a lot more money than the ACC.

It doesn't help that the ACC lost all the old, record breaking, Hall of Fame coaches. Baseball will be fine but basketball will need some really good transfers to keep up.

Having lived in Houston for 20 years and enjoying the Phi Slama Jama days of Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwan, I still catch U of H basketball on youtube TV when they are on. Big 12 basketball is now what ACC basketball use to be. Every game in Big 12 conference play is like an all out war and the officials usually let it get to street-fight status before making calls. Amazing how an entire conference of teams can excel or degrade all at the same time.
