1. That wasn’t pass interference. Y'all know that. They (finally) got it right. 2. Uga is habitual targeting team. They were not borderline calls.. I dont care if you don’t like the rule, it is a rule. 3. Kirby’s tantrum about refs will get an SEC fine. Curiously willfully hitting the opposing team’s QB does not cause Kirby to get fined.. 4. Texas fans lowered themselves to Uga level in my book. They should have gotten a penalty for throwing s it on the field. They will probably also get a fine from the sec. Good. If it changed the winning outcome I can understand the conversation. On Ugas website… (this still is tigernet; right?) 5. Uga won and the sec is in full panic mode without an unbeaten #1. Who cares? Lil ole Clemson is still in this thing.
Go Tigers. Suck it SEC. Uga. Kirby. Texas fans,

To me PI could have been called or not called on that play but once you call it how can you take it back? I could if they talked to see if it was a catchable ball but obviously it was. That is my complaint if you call it you have to stay with it.
Agree with all other points.

100% agree. Was a close call but once you make it, award the penalty, move the ball on the field, have the delay, then you have to keep it. Basically they reversed their questionable call due to fan peer pressure.
What was terrible too was Kirk, Reese, and “Bill the official” saying that it was important the refs made the right call, that’s what should’ve happened, and it was important/good they reversed the call. Hilarious that Bill made the statement “one of the guys in the huddle had the guts to stand up.” Having guts is realizing you made a questionable call and answering questions after the game to the point, not doing something that’s totally out of protocol and sets precedence now for drunk fans around the country to trash a field when other officials make calls like that. Having guts would have honestly been warning the fans that an unsportsmanlike penalty was about to happen. Was just mind blowing how the whole thing went down.
Agree with the OP on all other points.

I can't believe how stupid our fanbase is. You should have to prove you actually graduated from Clemson to post here. Maybe we'd get less idiotic takes.
1. You can't review pass interference calls. It was a close one, but it was unreviewable. It should have stuck. They rewarded the fans for their ###### behavior.
2. Targeting is the dumbest penalty out there. You can call targeting for a ton of plays. Calling it to help the #1 team stay undefeated on ticky-tack plays is pathetic.
3. Kirby will not get fined. The SEC has already issued a statement.
4. Texas should be fined but we'll see if they are. It's not about whether it changed the outcome. It COULD have changed the outcome.
Don't act like you're one of us. You're not.

I think both targeting calls were penalties. I don't think the Texas defender committed a foul. However, as Kirby later said, the refs have now set a precedence where there is a least the apperance a call will be changed based on the crowd's reaction.

I said last night....

....the proper time for refs to huddle, discuss and change the penalty for the flag is BEFORE they announce the penalty. I've seen them do this on several occassions. "After discussion, there was no foul on the play."
Refs have mike's where they can communicate to each other instantly. Whichever ref thought it wasn't a penalty should have been in the Head Ref's ear saying, "Wait a minute. Before you announce the call, let's talk about it. I saw it differently."
After you've made the call, whether or not fans throw things on the field, is too late.

You do not need to go to Clemson to be a Clemson fan. Frank Howard said that. But since you asked, let’s go.
1. I know where lake Johnstown was. 2. I definitely know who NOT to ask to make a milkshake. 3. I know why the modern art is in front of Lowry Hall and what it means. 4. I used to live at the old house that used to be the presidents house before it moved on campus. 5. I know where they played football before the stadium was built. 6. I know which building used to make the REAL ice cream. 7. I know where NOT to walk if you want to graduate and where TO walk if want to marry her.
Question is, do you??
Didn’t think so. Same as every other response you posted. Just wrong and a little sad.

1. Officials pick up flags after discussion all the time, they just had more time for discussion because of the delay.
2. Those targeting calls were NOT ticky-tac, They each met the very definition of targeting.
3. Who cares if Kirby gets fined?
4. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts,.....

For anyone showing love to UGA, just know how much UGA looking good on primetime is not a good look for us. Remember, they are in our backyard, and it can’t be good for recruiting if they are winning.

it does pretty much kill the whole "Clemson can't be good because they got taken the woodshed by UGA" meme. Georgia went onto Texas's homefield and just smoked them like a side of beef.

Exactly. Georgia didn't just beat CU. They also beat Texas.

I'm looking at it from the same lens. All those folks talking about how Clemson can't stay on the field with "yada yada yada" and x.Y.z. Yet, Georgia goes to Texas and beats them. Texas had to rally to make it only a 15 point defeat.
Clemson in my opinion if it had the confidence it has now on offense would have made it a much tighter game with the bulldogs. The defense just gave out after having to stop a good offense for 2.5 quarters.
I know, it's not the best in terms of recruiting and having Georgia win. But, making sure you are one of the places that is in the mix is important. Take care of that 1st and foremost. Georgia and Alabama have had multiple advantages in terms of recruiting over CU - but Clemson is a special place. And, kids still come here(good players). Even in this current state of CFB; they still come and will continue to come.

Unfortunately, Both Kirby and Texas have too much money for fines to have any impact. As a matter of fact this incident may cause them to raise the fine amounts significantly.

Quick comment on the targeting call.

Right after the first one, they substituted a true freshman in to rpelace him. (K J Bolden, big time recruit who was a late flip from FSU to UGA, that's why I noticed.) On his first or second play he targeted a guy. Wasn't called on the field. They showed a replay. I was surprised the booth did not signal down for a review.

That is correct. There should have been 3 GA players ejected for targeting.
