70s artist I've come to appreciate as I've gotten older

I'm 53, so wasn't too into him much when I was a kid & teen, but now that I'm getting older, I've kinda rediscovered the music of Gordon Lightfoot. What a great artist. Kinda the Canadian James Taylor when it comes to being a great singer-songwriter. Smooth voice, great relaxing music - really enjoying his music. I still love all the 70s arena rock artists, but sometimes - like on a dreary Monday - you just need some great chill and relax music and Gord fits the bill perfectly for me!

There was a great segment on Kristofferson on Ken Burns' PBS documentary "Country Music" a couple years ago. That was a great documentary...country isn't even my favorite genre of music, but that was an absolutely fantastic documentary! I watched it twice...and there are eight 2 hour segments!

There’s a documentary that came out a year or two ago that’s really good if you’re interested. I think it’s called “If You Could Read My Mind”.

Very true. I think his last release was “How lucky” from Kurt Vile. Fitting ending….

I've always been a huge Jimmy Buffett fan, and he always said that he patterned his career after Gordon Lightfoot. Both are story tellers in their music.

"So if you think you hear a little, let me correct that, a lot of Gordon Lightfoot in these (my) songs, congratulations you're correct, he was the greatness my mediocrity tried to imitate. Gordon was my guide though the musical woods. It's one of the unique and pretty cool parts about being successful, inspiring others, which is exactly what Gordon did for me" - Jimmy Buffett

I trended to your way of thinking, but I settled a little closer to home. My pick is Jim Harrison from Denmark. There is more to this story. Harrison was an assistant football coach under #### Sheridan at Orangeburg High School. Harrison went on to be an excellent artist. #### Sheridan coached OHS to a state championship with Mike O'cain at quarterback. He later coached AT NCSU during some of their best years.
As for music artists, I'm 71 and recently found 80's metal. It not a stretch to know that my favorite is also one of the biggest acts. AC/DC
