Clemson is a 10.5-point favorite on Duke according to the early line for FanDuel, and 247Sports sees the home Blue Devils to cover that spread in the Labor Day matchup:
Early prediction: Clemson 27, Duke 20
Dabo Swinney and the Tigers get another Monday night opener all to themselves, but this one's considerably more difficult against Duke on the road. The Blue Devils are a darkhorse threat in the ACC and are ahead of schedule under Mike Elko, who welcomes back All-SEC caliber signal caller Riley Leonard. This might be the best quarterback matchup of opening weekend outside of Jayden Daniels going toe to toe with Jordan Travis the previous night. The debut of Clemson's new-look offense under Garrett Riley is a storyline here, along with the play of Cade Klubnik as this program's new savior.

Riley hasn’t installed his system yet, Goodwin is still learning, and we have lots of young guys who were thrust into the lineup.
And if all else fails, it was probably anti-Clemson bias from the league office giving us this game to open the season and making sure the refs weren’t fair to us.

But you know that.
What I said was that we played lousy, and that’s why we lost, but that it certainly didn’t help that Loyola had more fans there in Atlanta than we did. The point was that their support for basketball at a long away trip included good fan support and even their band. That kind of support is something we didn’t have despite the game being 2 hours from campus.

For a man or woman that still has given an explanation to how we lost to Newberry State for the underwhelming in the 1st round of the NIT, thats a pitiful assessment! The more you spout off about Dabo and the football team, the more I understand your utter jealousy and disdain for anything and anyone that is not Brad Brownell! Why dont you worry about how we "can take the next step" after 13 years. Let Dabo worry about championships, he actually wins them!

I'm proud of the job Dabo has done, and how he elevated the program. I'm also disappointed by the last couple of years, both of which were underachieving seasons. I'm optimistic that the ship will be righted, even if it isn't this year.
My comments about the excuses made if we lose have zero to do with our football program, and everything to do with fans like you who are homers to the nth degree and always seem to have an excuse or rationalization for everything - including the fact that you chalk my criticism up to jealousy. LOL.

What is trolling?

Fans always put too much emphasis on the history of a school. For example. we expect to destroy Duke as they are historically a bad team and expect a tough game from a school like Auburn even when they are having a down year. I think Duke will be a decent team this year and not sure how in sync we will be for the first game. My guess is a 21 point win for the Tigers as the talent disparity is significant.

The Tigers have dropped off significantly the past two years and have multiple issues. With that said Duke has not cracked the top 50 in recruiting the past 3 years which was as far back as I cared to scroll (per Rivals). A miserable Ga Tech team giving Clemson all they wanted in last years opener should have opened some eyes (it didn't). If they can't beat Duke by at least 2 touchdowns just based on the talent differential then there are additional issues. Tigers by 21 seems more likely.

With respect to Duke having a 2nd year HC who turned them around. And, a QB who I really like. He's a cool customer. And a WR corp that's solid.
They did still lose the games "they were supposed to last year where there was a talent gap"! And, that didn't include Clemson or FSU.
So, no! Just no. But, it's something for the message boards and to peak interest in the game for all the people who only go to games or watch games when the weather is nice. Non-Novice football fans can see this for what it is.
