I can't stand the Gamecocks. Never been able to pull for them in any sport.

But I gotta tell you - I don't care who it is or what sport it is, to go undefeated, to only lose one game in two seasons, and to do what they did after losing their entire starting lineup from last year, that's one heckuva accomplishment and team. I still don't like Staley, but I respect her as an incredible coach. I still don't like the Gamecocks, but I respect what that team accomplished.
Everybody who's knocking women's basketball - I get it. Some of it is kidding, a lot of it is making light of the contrast between that and football, where the chickens have underperformed spectacularly year and year (and I have enjoyed every minute of that!). But I would love to see Clemson women's basketball be competitive and to be able to be considered a contender. I would hope that if/when Clemson women's basketball starts doing well that everyone will really get behind them.
As the father of a daughter, I love the attention that women's sports is getting now, and especially at Clemson - lacrosse, softball, soccer, gymnastics, and hopefully with this new coach, basketball. It's great being able to take my girl to my home away from home and see role models that she can emulate and that are like her, and not just men's sports, like it was when I was there (for the most part). It's really fun seeing the pictures in the stands of all the dads there with their little and young daughters, being able to share the Clemson experience with them.
Gamecock women's basketball was a dominant team this year and last and I can respect that, even though I still can't stand the fanbase and teams in general. If nothing else, that gives our lady Tigers a high goal to shoot for! If they can win the state in women's basketball - then they've really got something going!
Go Tigers!

It looks really nice, but honestly wimmens bball. How competitive is it when you have All Americans all over the court and a 6'7 low post player. It is domination, and the fact Clark and Iowa were so competitive was a bit surprising. Without the big start, they get crushed by 30+ but Clark was firing early and just could not stay hot.

a transformative all time player, made them play a completive game? Me thinks that to think it'd go otherwise would have been the more surprising. But it almost did, as you point out Iowa had a hot start and not much else.

I don’t like them either, but achievement is achievement. 351 D1 teams, one undefeated champ.
Most students can’t even make a college team, fewer still can start, fewer still can win and the rarest of all categories is champions.
Just to put into perspective how rare some college athletes are………of the 400,000 plus high school girls basketball players, less than 1.2% play D1 ball.
Still don’t like them.
