The Good Ole Days

1. The Option out of the wishbone or the I dominated college football. 2. The MLB baseball team in Cleveland were the INDIANS ! 3.The NFL team in Washington were the REDSKINS ! 4. People knew what defined Male and Female. It was NOT a "trick question" ! 5. We did not say such nonsense as " menstruating person " or "Birthing Person" ! 6. In other words there still was COMMON SENSE !!!! 7. And Btw people still play actual MUSIC and not GARBAGE at games !!

And BTW if you think option fb is boring it just shows you have no true maturity as a fan and lack of understanding of the game. It just means you have this " instant gratification" syndrome with no true apprceiation of the game.

I agree. Anyone who still holds on to the idea that the wishbone offense is inclusive is no doubt a racist and is exactly why the March on Tillman in 2020 was so important. Also why Paul Johnson was not hired as our new offensive coordinator!
Hopefully the OP is banned from all Clemson Menstruating Tigers events next year.

Loved hearing Jim Phillips saying Steve Fuller, Homer Jordan

Rodney Williams sets them down in I. Then they'd pitch it out to the likes of Lester Brown, Cliff Austin, Terry Allen or keep it on the option read. A short quick pass was supposed to be a third option but you rarely saw that. Guess all that kind of got replaced with the RPO without all the running around end.
3 memorable Jim Phillips sayings - Rodney sets them down in the I - The kick is up, the kick issss goooood! (especially sweet against UGA in '86 and '87) - This is Jim Phillips, so long everybody

You can add Terrance Flagler and Kenny Flowers to that group. Kenny Flowers was a good sized back and ran a 4.2. Almost unheard of in those days. He played briefly with the Atlanta Falcons. Flagler played sparingly for the 49ers but only lasted a season or two I believe. They used to call Lester Brown the duck he was so bow - legged but was probably the best of the lot save Terry Allen. I believe Kevin Mack played during that era also. He went on to have a stellar career with the Browns. I still miss Jim Phillips. He will never be replaced ( imo ) Rodney was a scrapper and you always had a chance with him out there. The kickers were Nigerians that Danny got from the soccer team since he didn't believ in giving scholarships to kickers. Obed Ariri and Donald Igwebuike with the latter still being the fourth best all time scorer in Tamp Bay history

Close! Jim Phillips used to refer to Lester Brown as

"The RUBBER Duck". This was because of his ability to just bounce off tacklers.
Kenny Flowers and Terrance Flagler always come to mind for me when I think of great Clemson running backs from 'back in the day". Also, Ken "Mr. Fumble" Callicut.

I can see some of a lot of old formations with our offense today. Our “Jumbo Package” lines up in the wishbone or sometimes a full I formation or a power I. When our quarterback turns his back to the line of scrimmage and fakes a handoff and pitches to a WR a coming around, reminds me of some single wing plays. When TL would start down the right side of the line like he’s going to take it in from 8 yards out, then pitch back inside to ETN trailing the play, that’s pure option football just to the inside instead of out. Can’t remember running anything out of double wing formation but I’m still hoping, that was always my favorite with so many things possible.

I love the past. I can easily recall the 50s. I came of age in the 60s. I've been going to Clemson games since 1955. I love the past. The memories are terrific. Thanks be to God.
