Exactly, because Brownell can't consistently do it with high school recruits. JK is just troll baiting someone to mention football because of Coach Swinney, being in the news concerning the portal.

Dabo can walk anybody out there he wants as far as I care as long as he keeps bringing home trophies.
Only thing Brad brings home is another “L”. He hasn’t earned the privilege to send his son out there

6 of 8 playoffs.
Half of every CFP National Championship game ever played.
25% of all CFP National Championship trophies.
More playoff wins than anyone but Bama.
More overall wins than anyone but Bama.
I guess you're one of the 10 wins and the wheels are falling off guys? That's weak.
We're in the midst of the most successful program run in the entire history of Clemson football. We're 3rd in the longest 10-win streak in the history of college football, and it's one of the best runs in college football history, period.
And it ain't over yet.
But you're gonna b!tch about a couple coaches kids and legacy players, where several of them have contributed to that success? Dabo can play the water bottle girls if he wants to.
Get outta here with your cynical, misguided bullcrap.

Your usual stupid drivel.
Too bad the coach can't develop talent, keep talent, or win more games.
While I'm glad he found a body, getting a transfer with 1 year of eligibility just kicks the can down the road one year.
Does anyone seriously think this transfer is the missing piece that is going to get us to the NCAAs?

Dawes and honor were both seniors this upcoming year. We replaced them with someone with the same eligibility.
This post is kind of a dunk on our football team and Dabo. The judge couldn't resist! Lol. Most people agree that they want Dabo to use the portal more. We have been destroyed in the playoff by transfers the last 2 times. Joe burrow, justin fields, Trey sermon, etc.
Our competitors use it, and we need to also.

It isn’t “stupid drivel” to congratulate our coach for being forward thinking

[ in reply to Re: It is great that our basketball coach willingly uses the transfer portal ] |

about using transfers to our advantage.
Can’t develop talent? Surely even you can see the difference between PJ Hall’s game from his freshman season to his sophomore season.
Hunter Tyson has improved a lot. So has Chase Hunter. Why can’t you acknowledge their improvement?
Keeping talent is a concern for virtually every basketball program these days. Players want to play, and if they aren’t, or if they perceive a better situation somewhere else, they can easily bolt since there is no requirement to sit out a year.
Other than Dawes, and possibly Prosper if you want to argue for him based on potential and not production, our losses to transfer are guys who are not getting significant minutes and/or have been passed on the depth chart.

I don't think he is being "forward thinking" as much as he is trying to save his job. We should congratulate him for doing just enough to remain employed.

Agree that Brad’s used the portal well throughout his tenure. Not sure he’s been that good at developing guys. I thought Hall looked like a really good player at the start of last year, and then he pretty much sat the bench while sims got all the minutes. Sure he looked way better this year. He got bigger and was actually allowed to play. As far as the guards, did dawes really get a lot better? Honor? I’d say not. Tyson’s better than he was as a freshman, but is his improvement above average? I’d say it’s about what should be expected. He’s a talented kid who’s matured over three years. Has Brad’s leadership and development of these kids been greater than what the average acc coach would offer? I don’t know.
All that to say, yeah he’s good at using the portal to manage his roster. I’m not convinced he’s really good at recruiting and developing guys or even at recognizing the best team to put on the floor. Hall should’ve played more as a freshman. Chase Hunter should’ve been getting more minutes early this year and probably last year.
Glad we picked up what looks like a really nice player at point guard. Hope we land the Wofford kid. Brad’s doing his job with the portal. We could be good next year.

to be successful.
What sucks is when we're paying the head coach the 38th highest salary in America and he's had 2 top 40 finishes in 12 years.
Fans want a winner. Brad hasn't done it. He has everything he needs, and save for one season hasn't been able to rise above mediocre.
38th best salary. Below 65th results.
I like Brad, but this is not going to work. Fans want more bang for our buck.

Comparing BB and FB is not an "apples to apples"

comparison. I know JK didn't mention football, but some seem to think he's trying to belittle Dabo.
FB is at the top of the heap and BB...well is not. What FB portal person are we going to bring in that is going to be better than who we have on our 1st or 2nd team? Maybe at OL due to injury?
BB transfers know that they will have a chance to play right away with Clemson. FB portal people are also looking to play right away. They don't want to come and compete for the job...they certainly don't want to ride the bench.
I don't have a problem with how Dabo or Brownell use the portal.

I usually don't mind your posts and find them good natured, but this one I have a problem with. It's obvious you are trying to instigate here and create controversy by comparing the transfer policies of the basketball and football programs.
First of all the Football program is on a whole different playing field and is exponentially more successful than the basketball's, so I am not sure why you are even trying to start something.
Secondly, the fact that in the most crucial part of the basketball season, you vanished and couldn't face the truth of what was happening with our six game losing streak. You couldn't take coming on here and getting ridiculed by posters who you incite every day yet you post this and try to stir something up.
Not sure what your end game is but the fact that you couldnt come on here while we were losing tells me all I need to know.

He’s actually pretty good at trolling. His hiatus couldn’t have anything to do with how completely and thoroughly he was owned for lying about the attendance at the Virginia basketball game. He paints himself as a real fan. Insisted he was there and that the rest of us were the liars. It was quite the coincidence that he quit posting when I found the YouTube video of the ACC Network condensed version of the game that showed the capacity crowd and the announcers even mentioned that it was a raucous, full house. As soon as he resurfaced I replied with a link to that video and he immediately blocked me. He’s good at spinning things in circles. But he backed himself into a rare corner on that one. And he has to pretend it doesn’t exist because it shows what a deliberate liar he is and that he willfully spreads lies to make Clemson and it’s fans look bad.

I just don’t think many people here are interested in the truth when it comes to basketball. It’s easier to be gung ho for football and only pay attention to basketball when we are really good or when the program is a convenient punching bag to take out aggression.
There is no way that anyone who is really serious about seeing our program succeed can think that the program has what it needs to be consistently successful.

Clemson University has everything needed to be an annual tournament team.. except a coach who can lead us there.
Yet again, Brad Brownell is the the 38th highest paid coach in America, but unfortunately he finished in the top 40 TWO times. And he has TWO tournament wins in 12 years.
Brad is awesome at everything, but accomplishments. He had EVERYTHING he needs but his incapacity of putting a consistent team on the court has failed more often than not. Much more.
38th highest salary with only two top 40 finishes in 12 years. That is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
