When only 8 teams were in the conference. You had to actually WIN the conference to go ANYWHERE beyond and bowl games could have interesting matchups from all over the country. It is crazy that a team could be a national champion but not champions of their OWN CONFERENCE !!! The music at all games was played by the school band and not BS NOISE by some DJ ! The Good Ole Days were really good and much better.

Those old school broadcasts were tough to find (especially if you lived outside ABC regional coverage). During my unfortunate time living in NJ post-graduation, I would regularly drive to Baltimore to watch games at ESPN Zone.
