105 roster cap that goes in effect next year. Dabo instantly did not like it and if I recall he said it would hurt having walk-ons. I’m confused. Would appreciate any serious responses and no wisea## responses which many younger members do.

Don't ever use that word to describe yourself on this bored!

It is a total roster cap.

All 105 can be in scoolarship.
There can be walk ons in the 105.

Clemson has more than 105 so some walk ons will have to be cut. Dabo doesn't like that.

Walk-ons can be allowed?

That is something I am confused about. I know I have seen somewhere in the past that the House agreement expanded the roster for all sports, but said that all athletes have to be on a scholarship.

I'm uncertain on that since I have heard both stories about walk-ons.

Here is what I know and don't know.

Or at least think I know.

1. Effective in the 2025 season the ROSTER cap will be 105. (No more than 105 will be allowed to practice. You can't have 120-135 players at practice every day like you can now.)

2. All 105 can be on scholarships.

What I don't know.

1. Can you sign a fewer number to scholarships and have the rest as walk-ons? (It was my understanding you can't. Everyone on the team must be on ship. But, then SEC said they were going to cap scholarships at 85. I find it hard to fathom that they would limit their roster to 85 while B1G, ACC, et. al. would have a roster of 105.

2. When can you put 105 on ship? July 1st? As soon as the House agreement is officially signed? Before Spring practice? Now?

Questions I have heard Dabo ask, and says he doesn't have the answer.

1. When will the roster have to be finalized? First day of fall practice? First game?

2. What if a player has a season ending injury? Can he be replaced on the roster? How could this be done? (Clemson can't trade for players or call up a player from the practice squad like the NFL can.)

If it were not for walk-ons in pay for play football Clemson would not have had the talents of Hunter Renfrow.

Those that are pushing NIL, share the TV money and demanding more money from fans for these entitled college athletes is a major disaster waiting to explode. Greed, self centered people, and me first attitudes will eventually destroy what is left of college sports.

These kids making $125K or more should be forced to pay their own tuition and any other expenses they incur in the Now “ Pay for Play” college sports such as food, medical treatment, medical insurance, disability etc… or they can opt out of NIL, revenue sharing and all of these other BS greedy money for play, receiving a scholarship and take advantage of the opportunity to obtain an education while playing sports.

They need to learn you can’t have it all. These immature kids must learn to decide between a good education 👨‍🎓 or money $ they may not last more than 7 to 10 years. It’s great that we still have some programs like Clemson that have a culture of building kids into men rather than those who choose to play for the $$$$$$$$ and playing for coaches that make winning the top priority. Most of Those greedy immature kids will regret neglecting their education once the money runs out and they have to get a real job.
