Money talks, the media doesnt even try to hide they're biased behavior toward the traditional powerhouses its ridiculous, Michigan has lost 2 of the last 3, if Clemson lost 2 of 3 we'd be sitting at 10 or some bs. Its a loaded deck, but Clemson keeps winning, we do what we do so they cant keep us out, results on the field, plus our SoS and possibke ACC title is all the talking we need to do.

Who should be ahead of them? Wisconsin or Penn St or Colorado? Much of an heat all three of those teams and they all have 2 losses. Where did you expect them to drop to?

The lost Iowa and didn't drop. We lost to Pitt the same way, and fell two slots. Dumb if you ask me.

We lost at home while Michigan lost on the road.

Teams don't have to free fall in the rankings just because they lost.
Michigan has the same record as #6, #7, and #8 and beat all three of them. That's still a really, really good resume and they are very clearly deserving of the #5 spot this week. That could easily change next week with conference titles, but right now Michigan is clearly more deserving of that spot than anyone immediately behind them.

The worst to me is Utah being at 20. They have lost 3 of their last 4 including a loss at home to a 4-8 team, and they have gone 4-4 over their last 8 with 2 losses against teams with losing records, and a few close wins over teams with losing records. They only have 3 wins all season long against teams with winning records, USC, 1 point win over BYU, and 6-5 Southern Utah. Yet somehow they are 5 spots ahead of Pitt who has the same 8-4 record, a better SOS, 2 wins over top 10 teams, and has won 3 games in a row including beating the #3 team on the road.

Which one of the teams ranked 6-8 that Michigan beat would you move ahead of them? They just lost on the road in double overtime to the #2 team in the country. Just how far did you want them to drop?

The narrative changes a bit then though as currently Michigan has the same record as each of those teams and none of them have a conference title as of yet. Whoever wins the conference title games among those teams will then have a better record than Michigan and a conference title so it's not exactly the same.

Credit for realizing how flimsy your narrative is.

I personally think that conference standings should matter this week AND next week. Conferences have deterministic rules to decide standings and ultimately their champion. There's no reason to dismiss those rules one week because it doesn't fit your narrative, then suddenly recognize those rules the following week.
If you think that the conference standings are wrong and the conference rules are unfairly rigged, then the championship game should be just as meaningless. It would be an unfair system rewarding the wrong teams with an undeserved boost in rankings.

hardware definitely changes the situation. H2H is a tie-breaker when all other things are relatively even. Right now Michigan has the same record as those teams, a better overall resume, AND beat all 3. Give Colorado a win over #4 Washington or PSU a win over #6 Wisconsin and things change.

They lost on the road on a last second field goal and in 2 OT to the #2 team on the road. I think it's ok.

Guess so. Its usually the kiss of death to lose 2 games this late.

They have won one game outside of Michigan and that was rutgers. Colorado had them on the ropes and actually had the lead when they lost their qb for remainder of game.
