It's amazing

5 years ago we were going toe to toe with every big name ACC team and even almost won an ACC Championship. Now we are just hoping we don't get embarrassed. Sad really, and we wouldn't be in this situation if our AD had been willing to pay OP what he deserved. No we are dealing with bad decisions upon bad decisions that are snowballing and setting back our bball program for a decade or more.

I would not say a decade. Barnes completely turned us around in year two with his recruits.

We're stuck with BB for at least 2-3 more years now because of his insane buyout. So we will be in year 8 or so. Then when we do get a new coach to come in our program is going to be in such shambles that it really will take at least 3 years to rebuild.

Barnes also didn't have to deal with Louisville, Syracuse, Pitt or Notre Dame. AND he caught Duke when Kresxxxkski had his "back problems".

sure, it is a tough league now for sure. But for every Louisville and Syracuse, we have added less competitive programs like VT and BC. There are wins up for grabs in this league.

we are a football school playing in a basketball conference. we will never have competitive basketball with the upper level teams in this conference. accept it, learn it, deal with it, and sometimes watch it only to see the teams we are playing. as far as winning conference championships we have only won one in football in over 20 years. why get upset about basketball? we need to figure out how to beat fsu and gt to get that acc crown in football. that is priority number one! with the current talent we have, and those that are coming in, we should be favored to win it this year. barring injuries, it will be an epic fail if we don't win it. football is all 75% of most Clemson fans care about. lip service is all the administration pays to other sports. yes, I know we are building or upgrading basketball and baseball facilities, just not to be embarrassed when other acc teams come here but it will not change the fact that we are a FOOTBALL school. give a rest for all logical reasons!

miracle grow, a kind word here or there would be nice.
cu went out, grabbed an up and coming coach in barnes. he did good things. cu hired an assistant and the program languished. cu went out and grabbed an experienced program changer in op. he did good things.
it would seem some consistency & competitiveness with an occasional foray into the 32s or 16s could be managed with the right amount of attention. clemson's got a great brand, it seems it could be leveraged, but i don't know that all those things have happened at once; right coach and amenities?

CU did do well in the regular season, but OP's teams could not compete with a good team that had a good point guard. OP's teams did not do well come tourney time. They were much better than what we have at the moment.
