What type of VP will JD Vance be?

Biden gave Kamala the border to give her experience on a substantive issue and she totally ran from it and let it blow up in the administration’s face

Will trump give Vance similar opportunities? Will he run toward the opportunities and fix them? Or will he morph into a swamp creature and try to keep his jersey clean?

I'm trying to think of the last time any vice president did anything of note.

I won't count Cheney because that was such an unusual president/vice president relationship than what we typically see -- so aside from him, left or right, is there a VP that y'all can think of who really pushed the country in a specific (and positive) way?

You're right - only Cheney came to mind. Vance might be a good conduit

Actually, I suspect he'll become the sort of vice president that becomes president.

Our two-party system produces some interesting bedmates - I mean, the Dems literally had the Arab and Jewish communities in the US under the same Big Tent, and we all saw firsthand just how compatible that ended up being when Israel decided to have it out with Hamas and Hezbollah. The Dems probably could have survived that, but Russian bots also took the young leftist college vote along with the Arab vote. If you look county-by-county where Kamala lost the election in, say, Michigan, it was in Wayne County - home of Dearborn, Michigan - and Washtenaw County, home of the University of Michigan.

I figured the Arab community would largely sit this one out, and they did, but I also thought the college kids would go back to the Dems in the end because of the abortion issue and also because that's what they've always done and at the end of the day they didn't have any skin in the game with Gaza. But they didn't. They seem to have largely sat this election out as well. And that ended up being the ball game, especially since Kamala never actually advanced any specific proposals that would have won over the so-called "Haley" voters.

But the biggest incompatibility of all are the new technocrat faction of Big Tech - led by Elon Musk and Peter Theil - and the traditional GOP conservative faction, led by think tanks like the Heritage Foundation that now have as their biggest backers Big Oil. (This was the bunch that advanced Project 2025.) Obviously these two are never going to be able to co-exist under the same Big Tent for so much as ten minutes before they start gouging away...and I wouldn't put my money down on the traditional conservatives. And JD Vance is the handpicked boy of Peter Theil...and I suspect Vance is going to end up being the worst personnel move Donald Trump ever made, and he's made some whoppers. Because now all the Big Tech faction - which includes the richest man in the world - needs to do to get their handpicked fellow and a guy they own right down to his toes into the Big Chair is...to rid themselves of Donald Trump.

They may not even have to assassinate Donald. Elon can just outright buy Donald's cabinet right out from under him and invoke the 25th. He could offer each Cabinet member a billion dollars cash and it wouldn't be but a drop in the bucket, especially compared to what Elon's got to gain.

That is some Alex Jones level stuff right there.... Trump ain't going nowhere and Elon has no interest in seeing him removed - quite the opposite.

Elon has been very clear that his life's dream and work is focused on making the human species a multi-planetary species. Elon has spent $Billions building SpaceX in that pursuit. He has spent countless dollars finding and hiring some of the best project managers, engineers and scientists towards that endeavor. As a result, SpaceX has made some real breakthroughs in everything from rocket to control systems technology and beyond.

The one thing Elon has identified that can stop or drastically slow down and/or reduce his chances of seeing his life's dream from coming to fruition is the bureaucratic, Government regulatory State.

During a recent interview with Joe Rogan - Musk stated he can manufacture a rocket and have it ready to launch faster than he can get five of the Government's bloated bureaucratic agencies to approve a single launch. He also discussed the catch 22 the DOJ throws at SpaceX from their hiring practices. The DOJ goes after SpaceX for their "discriminating against asylees and refugees" yet because of the technology SpaceX deals with they legally can't hire such foreign nationals. To me - all of this is a "tell" about Musk's motives and state of mind. Elon simply wants to remove as much of the Government obstacles from his pursuits and believes that of the available options - Trump is the best vehicle to do so.

The Democratic Party embraces big Government bloat and regulation while Trump is much more amenable to reducing regulation as witnessed by his first time in office. Elon has no need to pull a Machiavellian stunt (where it can go terribly wrong) with Trump's staff to get what he wants. It is much easier and more effective to just stroke Trump's ego and get the same/better result as a palace coup.

I also believe Musk is being genuine when he discusses and expresses his concerns with the "woke mind virus" and the drastic turn the Democrats have made to the far left. He's been very clear that the DEI practices as put forth in policy by the Democrats is detrimental to our country and future as a civilization.

So... Musk, like all folks of his stature, have a lot of self-interests in their dallying into politics but in Musk's case - I think a lot of his political self-interests might actually be beneficial for the rest of us as well.

I think Donald got into bed with a man he neither understands nor can control. Elon's not really even a billionaire anymore, he's become a sovereign state unto himself. He's on pace to become the world's first trillionaire. He doesn't just own companies, he owns entire industries.

I also think Elon's on the clock. He's 53 years old now, and has maybe another 30 years to realize his goals (maybe less)...and his goals are immense. (I actually think those goals are a lot bigger than just going to Mars, research the "technological Singularity", and Elon's views on it and on AI, and on that subject, I'd stare hard at NeuraLink and what his goals with it are.)

If Donald doesn't dance to Elon's tune and stands in Elon's path - or God help him, tries to use and discard Musk as he has so many others - Elon will absolutely replace him. He has that power, and wealth on a scale that allows him to buy and sell virtually anyone...and he and Theil have their own guy in the Veep chair now.

Do you really think Elon will just sit passively on his hands and do nothing if Donald makes the mistake of getting in his way, or even just becomes an unacceptable liability? I don't.

for the Trump administration. He's a Heritage Foundation darling and is good friends with its founder, Kevin Roberts. Vance wrote the forward for Roberts' new book about the plans detailed in Project 2025 that the Trump campaign was able to delay the release of until after the election. Roberts in March, said that the senator “is absolutely going to be one of the leaders — if not the leader — of our movement.”

In a speech to The Heritage Foundation in 2023 Vance said that Project 2025 “is going to play a major role in helping us figure out how to govern, at the White House, at the Senate, at the House and all across our great country."

That will be his opportunity.

This threads seems to be compiling all the kooks lefties and pretend Republicans conspiracy theories into one easy to read thread. Trump just worked his ### off campaigning for the last year, certainly more than Biden or Kamala ever did, and now he's lazy and clueless and will be a puppet for the regime actually running things. One would think the kooks would enjoy that arrangement since its been their reality the last four years but now they suddenly have petered to care about such things, not that any of this is based on reality whatsoever.

"Pretend" Republicans...sure, boo. My politics and belief system really haven't changed much in the last 20+ years. And I voted GOP from 1996 all the way to 2016...which I sat out because I couldn't stomach either candidate.

The "conspiracy" isn't hard to figure at all if you don't have a horse in the race, and I really don't. Actually my ponies both lost. I voted for Kamala as president because I thought she'd be less destructive than Donald...and I voted for Mike Rogers as Senator because I figured the best way to keep Kamala under control was to hamstring her with a Republican Congress and I thought the GOP's odds of taking the Senate were better than taking the presidency. But Rogers lost to Elise Slotkin...and obviously, Donald won. And even with Rogers losing, the GOP's still taking the Senate. So much for my plan.

If you've got an idea how Elon Musk, the King of Electric Cars and a man who believes whole-heartedly in climate change and in fact built an entire industry around getting ahead of and profiting off of it, and Big Oil are both supposed to co-exist without one destroying the other, I'd love to hear you explain.

One of them's gotta go. And my money's not on Big Oil.

And Donald's got this problem: he's chaotic, and he's unreliable. Who do you suppose Musk and Theil would prefer as president, him or their man JD?

Most people (including many old school Democrats) that they are being told how to act, what to do, and how to think. The Democrats will be better off going back to their base and reject the WOKE Liberals and Progressives telling them to go and create their own party.

The WOKE side rejects everyday Democrats that disagree with anything they say and Trump says thank you!
