17 lineman taken. 8 offensive, 9 defensive. Elsewhere, there were 10 offensive skill position players taken, along with 6 linebackers/defensive backs. Interesting.

I think the trenches have become much more valuable to protect the QB or to rush the QB because almost every team has a couple of decent WRs/TEs, that given enough time will complete passes. As you see RB values going down, trenches change the game more with these heavy pass offenses.

Talent. Smart to build the trenches with known quality and work outward from there. I would never pick first. Trade that baby for numerous additional picks!

They are supposedly still a couple years away too. Their roster is supposedly a mess and they will need a couple of more drafts. This will be ETN's last season as well. Their team is a mess.

Yeah...the pick seems like a bad call on the surface. Instead of trading up, they should have traded down and got more picks it seems. Who knows though? As far as the trenches, they did add 4 offensive linemen through free agency. They supposedly did a good job in that department. Their D sucks though. I am not sure what they have done to improve their D.

The draft lacked star power at the skill position this year so it makes sense.

We saw with the Eagles what it can happen when you heavily invest in the trenches. Monkey see monkey do.

My hometown Panthers now have the most expensive OL in the league so hopefully they can become a team worth my Sunday afternoons. The city was so lively when they were better.
