Traveling Charleston to Clemson this weekend - SCDOT update

Hopefully this helps with some of the delays approaching Columbia on I-26 for any lowcountry tigers!

SCDOT Restricts Lane Closures for Labor Day Weekend

on 9/2/2015 12:54 PM
The South Carolina Department of Transportation Department's holiday lane closure restrictions will be in effect for Labor Day Weekend from 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Lane closures, road closures, shoulder closures, pacing operations or any operations that may impact the efficient flow of traffic or hinder normal traffic operations are prohibited unless warranted by emergency circumstances.

Acting South Carolina Secretary of Transportation Christy Hall reminds motorists to observe speed limits, buckle up, pay attention and to not drive while impaired.

"We remind motorists to focus on safety during this Labor Day Weekend," Hall said. "For many South Carolinians, it will be a time of relaxation, family gatherings, traveling to sporting events or possibly an end of season vacation. We want everyone to reach their destination safely."

Maybe she forgot to add, and we're closing off roads so we can keep a sharp eye on everyone coming through cootlumbia. And we consider not using a turn signal as being impaired, and will issue you a field sobriety test that you WILL fail, and you will be charged with DUI.... :(
