Advanced Outlook: Clemson-Pittsburgh projections
From a statistical standpoint, the outlook for Clemson in its matchup at No. 23 Pittsburgh Saturday (3:30 p.m./ESPN) is, well...different than we’ve seen in these kinds of games for a while. In the Vegas odds, Dabo Swinney’s Tigers are an underdog in the regular season for the first time since 2016 Read Update » |

FiveThirtyEight weighed in on the state of the ACC today and offered this analysis of the Clemson offense:
"Those passing numbers aren’t just bad — they’re historically abysmal. At 5.66 yards per attempt, Clemson’s passing ranks 124th out of 130 Football Bowl Subdivision teams, and if the season ended today, that number would rank 496th out of 520 Power Five team-seasons during the playoff era. The bulk of that quarterbacking fiasco falls on the shoulders of sophomore D.J. Uiagalelei, whose strong performance in limited time last season led many to believe he would ably fill the shoes of the departed Trevor Lawrence. Uiagalelei’s paltry 41.5 Total QBR this season may be at least partly a function of attrition at skill positions — most notably, running back Travis Etienne and wide receivers Amari Rodgers and Cornell Powell — and an offensive-line situation that head coach Dabo Swinney has described as “musical chairs.” No matter the reason, Uiagalelei has fallen far short of delivering on the Heisman expectations that have come to define being QB1 at Clemson."

don't know how you rate a QB with O line so bad, remember how OSU out played the O line...How did Trevor Lawrence look then, not so good. Hope the O line finally settles down and gives team a chance

I thin the defense has proven otherwise regarding the high score. But without a doubt I am just hoping for the win, but odds are against us unless Offense picks it up

The Tiger offense can only continue killing the Tiger defense so many times before they are completely wore out. So until prove otherwise.......

as much as it pains me to say AGAIN, I have not been proven otherwise. What folks need to see in the offense is the reality and quit hoping. Everyone can see what is happening. Some folks just need to admit it is what it is and will not get any better for the remainder of the year.

Dabo has done it before, ....it may take a couple of years...but we (the fans) were patient and it paid off. Let’s give the team we have right now ALL the support we can. If we end up out of the AP 25 after this year..I can’t think Of a better Coach other than Dabo Swinney to get us back on top again. Now is not the time to throw mud. Now is the time we focus...not on the here and now, but more on the future of Clemson football. GO TIGERS! I am ALL IN! Thank you Dabo for what you have done for Clemson football. I May not agree with you all the time...but I have your back! Class of 1977..so I have definitely seen the bad and ugly.

I'm with you, and I've seem more than you and many others - class of 67 whose father was class of 43. Been a Tiger all my life and could not be happier than to be a Tiger right now. I can remember when we used to look for 6 wins just to be bowl eligible. Go Tigers. Thank you Dabo. You da man.
