Thoughts on the Weekend

Was on a hunting trip and got to watch Friday and Sunday. But had to go back and rewatch Saturday games.
Pitching - I was proud especially LeGuernic. Last weekend we get run ruled in game 3, this weekend in game 4 we only give up 2 runs and pitch well in high leverage situations. LeGuernic only gave up one hit. Once he finally cuts down on the walks, dude will be a real deal.
Hitting - EB makes a good point about guys moving positions and spots in the lineup and not getting into a hitting groove. I expect he has an idea of exactly what his lineup will look like this weekend.
Shoutout Joe Allen as well. Dude was dealing!!
Defense - we really have an elite defense. Can’t wait to see the final fielding % at the end of this year.
I’ll be at all 3 games this weekend, and can’t wait!
Based off of our 7 game sample size, here is my projected lineup for Friday night. (Feel free to rake me through the coals if I’m wrong, and this could change with any performances tomorrow against Winthrop)
1. Listi - LF 2. Paino - SS 3. McCladdie - 3B 4. Gaffney - 1B 5. Priest - DH 6. Cannerella - CF 7. Jarrell - C 8. Crighton - RF 9. Purify - 2B
SP - (this took a lot of thought) Knaak
I Hope cam has a good game against Winthrop and he can be in the top four of the order Friday night. But from what I’ve seen, I think he’s dropping down until he finds a groove.
What are y’all’s thoughts on this past weekend and the series with the chickens?

I was just telling my dad, we have 10-12 bats on this team. What a great problem to have!
We haven't seen enough innings to know who our weekend rotation is yet in my opinion. Looking forward to SC this weekend.

Pitching has been up and down
Knaak is the ace and he’s got to get the home runs allowed down. There’s just too many.
Pitching is the difference when you talk about Omaha.

I get why but it is rough not to see Cuifo on the list. I hope he can turn it around before he loses his spot during ACC play!

We have a huge game at UVA and winning 2 of 3 in baseball would be great.

Cuifo will be starting Friday night.. had a walkoff against the coots last year and is to good defensively to keep him out of the lineup… his bat will come around a little… last year I believe he wasn’t a .300 hitter so I wouldn’t expect him to be this year either

Completely agree…. Ciufo would make a heck of a 9 hole guy. He has speed and is the best bunter on the team…..a good prospect to turn the order over

I love the fact tbat we ate winning without the 3-run HR. This team hits for contact better than last year's team. The one major improvement needed is hitting with RISP. We are hitting into a lot of double plays. But the hits with RISP will start to come. Pitching is walking a few more than you would like to see, but roles are still being determined and guys are settling in. Great season ahead!!

We have good depth in the lineup. Our D is much improved and that might mean less time for Ciufo. He's great defensively, a good leader, and stuck it to the Gamecocks last year. I see him getting lost in the shuffle as the year goes on as his hitting is a bit of a liability. Really he and Purify are the two liabilities at the plate. The other regulars are solid. We willl need to hit our best yet to win the series. Tigers win 2-1.

Disagree with purify. Rarely will he ever hit into a DP because he's too fast. Chances are, we lose Sundays game without his 2 sac flys. The last being the game winner. He doesn't strike out much. Would also like to see him bunt for hits more if 3rd is playing deep.

I’d probably start Priest at 1B and let Bisetta DH. Gaffney isn’t seeing it at all right now big whiff rate. Sure he hit the first HR of the season but it’s not like it was lights out pitching.
Also, If Cam doesn’t get healthy and have the ability to throw the ball, we might be in trouble or be looking for someone else to play CF. Sure it was NC AT but that ball hit to the gap, he couldn’t throw the ball into the cutoff with any strength. And to be honest, I’m not sure I’d risk my career over the season if I was looking at top 10 pick. Will be interesting to watch.

Thought we were told he, Cam, was 100 and full go. Was able to throw like pre injury. Hmmm. Confused.

1. Listi lf 2. Paino 3b 3. Cam cf 4. Gaffney 1b 5. Priest DH 6. Bisetta RF 7. Jarrell C 8. Purify 2b 9. Ciufo ss
I would utilize mcladdie and Crighton somewhere around 4th or 5th inning as pinch hitter or runner depending on score/situation.
