You can call Kentucky wimmin ugly and inbred. You can make fun of their football teams You can start talking about mopeds and volleyball chicks and folks from Kentucky won't get too mad. You might even be able to get away with talking smack about their thoroughbred.
But you start calling their bourbon "whiskey" and you will get on their fighting side. Why don't you ask them if they like Crown Royal while you're at it....
Of course, the reason that you can get away with saying all those things is the abundance of great bourbon in Kentucky!

Okay, here are some REAL answers: Bulliet, Evan Williams Single Barrel, Four Roses Single Barrel and Woodford Reserve. My favorite. Those are actually all in Kentucky.

You are right. Buffalo Trace Dist. is in Frankfort. I Googled a list of bourbon dist. in Kentucky, and that one didn't show up for some reason. And I drink Buffalo Trace when I can find it. I've never had any Pappy's. I'm not paying that much money for bourbon. Buffalo Trace is very good bourbon.

Supply and demand makes it expensive. The over the counter price isn't cheap but it isn't unreal. I read a short while ago that the entire state of Ohio got only eight bottles of the last batch to sell and Ohio is next door to Kentucky! I have friends who bought some on line I think and they only drank one bottle and kept the others as an investment I'm like you, that's a bit much for me when JD and Makers Mark are available for 'real People'! I visited Frugal Mcdougals Beverages next door to Carrowinds a few weeks ago and they told me I would have to get into their lottery for a chance to even have a chance to buy a bottle If they get any to sell. Wild. I'll stick with Rebel Yell I guess!!! Go Tigers......Beat the Bourbons

Nothing to do with states Bourbon has to be made in us, at minimum 51% corn and aged in only new charred oak barrels. Whisky can be made anywhere, blended with barley, etc. and aged in oak barrels they don't have to be new or charred only oak

Anything buffalo trace is pretty good esp for the price. Pappy is only that expensive on the secondary market; if you are in store on release day(bourbon day) varies per state it retails 50-250$. worth waiting in line to buy a few bottles for sure.

Told me to check out Lexington.
He told me this as we was drinking Booker's.
Basically, Lexington is cheaper but similar.

Lexington and Booker's are two kinds of Kentucky Bourbon.
Booker's is from the Jim Beam family, not Beam at all, both are small batch bourbon.
Lexington is like half the price and said to be similar/quality.

Blanton's is fantastic. Best bourbon for the money is Buffalo Trace. It's got great flavor and is a nice inexpensive bourbon. I also like Four Roses and Woodford.
