Depth...
Clemson's ability to retain talent is 2nd to none. We have a bunch of geniuses on this board who seem to know how to recruit talent better. It's nauseating to say the least. This roster has talent and depth.

Portal...blah....blah...blah 🐑 🐏 🐑

https://247sports.com/season/2024-football/collegeteamtalentcomposite/

Coaches...
To be a perennial powerhouse is very rare. In this generation, Dabo is 2nd only to Nick Saban. Nick's ability to replace coaches as they leave is unreal. Take teams like OSU, Michigan, thUGA, Texas... none have more playoff appearances than lil ol Clemson! Our offense and offensive recruiting is on the mend. Defense is coming! The talent is there and I'm confident the new DC will improve this team.

To all the keyboard gurus who know how to run this program better than Dabo and his staff, eat a ****. Go back to your cubicle. I'll bet you've never had to run the show and make 1000 decisions every day.

That’s mainly JK and Bluff. Both are in tune with the day to day football operations and anything related to our current NIL monies.

If you don’t believe me just ask them.

You can argue do we have talent. Yes we do. Are we developing that talent though? The answer used to be yes. However, I don't think that has been the case the last 4+ years. In order to have depth, you need to develop your players which I think is a key thing missing from this program. We used to be able to take 2 and 3 stars and make them 5 stars. Now it seems we take some 4 and 5 stars(NOT ALL), and they become more like 1 and 2 stars while here.

Years 1-2: DJ. DJ was developed as much as possible. He was not elite and that’s why we weren’t elite. Every team goes as its QB goes. As it was, we had good enough coaching and development to just miss the playoffs after an 8-29 day from DJ against the coots. We were ok that position due to coaching and player development. We were handcuffed by the most important player on the field.

Year 3: Cade was developing along with a limited WR core missing Antonio Williams. The defense was stout and was 8th in the country. This team was 4-4 but recovered to win every game the rest of the season. That’s coaching and development.

Year 4: Cades development was OBVIOUS and we brought along two freshmen WRs very well. Our problem was a defense that couldn’t stop the run. We still won the ACC and 10 games. The defense wasn’t developing hence we’re getting a new DC.

So in those 4 years we’re in the top 7 in overall wins in the country, we’ve won two conference titles, and we one or two teams to maintain a 9+ win season for 14 years straight. That’s coaching and development.

So bottom line is we were hindered by a mediocre QB, a developing QB needing WRs, and a porous defense that is being fixed.

I’ll give you development this year on defense, but cannot give you the other 3 years.

In fairness, most don’t make 11M a year either. I think it is ok to be a fan of a program and also question some decisions of coaches and management.
I worked at a company for 23 years and while I enjoyed my time there, at times I questioned if management was doing the right thing. Just because you question something doesn’t make you an enemy.

If you question everything if you degrade coaches and think you are always the smartest guy in the room then yes you are the enemy.
If you are knew to something and question success you are probably the enemy!

Most people don’t question everything but anytime they question ANYTHING they get ridiculed. That seems to be Tigernet’s defense mechanism.
All I’m saying is that, IMHO, it is ok to question. Questioning SHOULD bring discussion. All it actually seems to bring is bickering and infighting.

And not even close. Spend the ounce of time you spent jibbering this out to check out our roster and see how many redshirts we have stewing in the crock pot, ahead of each new crop of freshmen that come in to join the program.

Homegrown canard.

We are at the very top in retention and have been for the last several years. EVERY team loses players to the portal but comparatively we are losing less than our competitors.

News flash. Every person that i have ever worked with who questioned how things were run or produced fell into two categories.

1. Leaders with vision for the future who knew that anything could be improved and were always looking to improve it. Those were not yes men/women and if you wanted your business to thrive and stay competitive, you wanted those people in your organization at every level.

2. Those who questioned everything and never offered any solutions to fix what was being questioned. These types did their jobs but eventually quit questioning when they realized it was a waste of time.

Now, football fans are a different breed. Of course they are going to question, blitch, moan, and become legendary Monday morning qb's. That's just the way it is. If one is a fan and does not understand that, then that person is not a well educated fan re. his team.

Personally, i enjoy being around the fans who question, talk chit, are engaged at having fun at games or while watching a game. But, that's just me. I don't take sports too seriously as it is merely a form of entertainment. When I see these crazies with body painted, decked out in outlandish attire, yelling their lungs out, I love seeing it. That could never be me, but I think that's the one's I want to be around at a game or at a tailgate party.

I avoid the types that worship the coaches and think everything is just perfect when it's not. You can't be a real fan around that crowd.

My biggest beef with the last 4 years has been all
of the internal hires.

Saban wasn’t afraid to admit guys he liked simply weren’t ready for an OC/DC role and would consistently go out and get the best and brightest minds in football to replace whoever was leaving.

Dabo has had several home run hires, he knows how to do it, he has the budget to do it as well and outspend anyone for top notch coordinators.

The main complaint from this board has been the consistent hiring and lack of quick triggers on inexperienced, internal coordinators and position coaching hires.

I think the last 4 years has shown Dabo that the internal route doesn’t work and he needs to go outside like he did with Matt Luke last year. I’m hopeful that will continue with our new DC and few other positions in the coming weeks.

The talent is there, the fact we only lost 5 to the portal is a testament to recruiting the right players, now we just need to get the right guys in to coach them back up to the mountaintop

appreciating the lack of turnover Dabo had with his coaching staff, how our culture there also kept quality people in key positions around longer, and how we were training and developing within our own ranks, plus the occasional rope in from outside. We were dominating on the field, in the rooms, and on the sidelines, and continuity and culture were the buzzwords that tied all that together and offered a bright outlook ahead.

As conditions have warranted, Dabo has adjusted. Players are turning over faster now than ever before and with it the staffs around them. One thing Dabo has done as well as anyone in the game, anyone, is get his guy when he wants him, and that's a great attribute. He's no reactionary, though. When he offers someone an opportunity he's going to allow them the same to deliver on it. That kind of commitment definitely isn't at the speed many fans are comfortable with, but it's worked.

If Dabo would have known better he would never have hired Austin and Wes in the first place. He would have also used NIL to recruit better.

I still think Dabo is the right coach for Clemson. But to blindly follow him off a cliff like many of the goobers on this site do, is just plain stupid. Dabo deserves to be criticized for several poor decisions he has made since 2019.

So cut the crap.

Please for the love of God… PLEASE stop posting that 247 article bc it’s a load of BS.

Anybody that truly believes we were the 5th most talented team in America this year is as dumb as they come.

That’s just recruiting rankings compiled. That doesn’t take into account the transfers lost or added by teams and it doesn’t take into account the actual development of those recruits.

Stop referring to it bc it’s wrong and everyone that knows anything about football or that isn’t blind and has 2 eyes can see we were nowhere near the 5th most talented roster.
