In the early morning of this Thanksgiving Day, I am thankful for many things. Being an American and a Tiger are near the top of the list. We live in the greatest country in the world, one nation under God, and regardless of our differences, our collective values and strengths bond us and make us even stronger. The fact that we can express our differences without reprisals, worship as we see fit, determine our destiny largely through our own efforts, and successfully defend the freedoms we enjoy, makes us the envy of many around the world.
I'm thankful for a Clemson education that afforded me many opportunities throughout my life and career. The relationships I developed have been long-lasting and have seen me through challenging times. Our mutual love for Clemson is a bond never broken and I'm thankful for a forum like Tnet to remain close with like-minded Tigers, even the ones I may disagree with from time to time.
Most importantly, I am thankful for my family. Thanksgiving is always bittersweet for me because I lost my Dad the day after Thanksgiving in 2014. However, I fondly remember our shared love of "all things Clemson." My Dad was a strong man, with a good heart and a Godly soul. I miss him every day. My wife of 30 years has been a faithful and loving partner, and our 25 year old daughter is the apple of my eye, even if she did break my heart and go to Penn State.
I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. Take your own time to reflect and be grateful for all the blessings in your life. How fortunate we are to be Americans and Clemson Tigers!
