1. DJ has definitely improved. He missed some throws but his midrange passing was really good. Obviously, the pass to Collins was great. I really wish we would throw more 20-30 yard passes. Seems to be DJ's strength.
2. Tony Elliot called a good game with the exception of a couple of drives, I thought. The OL continues to ruin some fairly good play calls.
3. Parks. Wow, I hate to end this in a negative tone but he whiffed on a speed rush sack, he was upright and missed completely on the 4th and goal, missed his block on like inside counterplay (don't know what you call it but the tackles cross), and looked lost on a lot of other plays. On DJ's TD run in the 4th quarter, you see Mayes obliterate the whole left side of the Cardinal Dline. Why doesn't Mayes start?
Did any of you see what I saw?

I definitely saw #1 and #2 in real time. Much better play calling and execution (no more WR screens). Thats why I have been happy that we are making progress. The OL was better in pass protection, but still terrible with run blocking...no holes, no push.

You are raving about Mayes and the participation report posted to the front page says only 5 OL played and Mayes was not one of them.
Color me confused.

I just rewatched the TD run by DJ.
Mayes is not in the game.
The OL with 70 something numbers are 71 McFadden (LT) and 74 Tate (LG).
I think McFadden is the one you are referencing who collapsed one side of the line on the TD run.

There was a wide receiver screen.
It worked and gained 9 yards because the WR blocked for it.

Ross is a pretty good blocker, Ajou Ajou is horrible, Ngata a little better have not seen enough of EJ...
Still waiting for the read option where if the corner jumps it the receiver just actls like he's going to block and takes off...
That will end the jumping the route from the corners...

but Parks definitely whiffed on some blocks including one sack where it looked like he didn't know his assignment. He let the DE come in completely free.

Hats off to you Pacific Tgr for offering some observations here on the board. Too many Nances on here who only look at the QB, RBs and WRs. It's 11 guys out there on every play.
