Similarities and differences in this board to 15 years ago.

Dec 7, 2015, 6:43 PM

There's a lot of old guard posters on this board, but so many new ones as well. For you newer folks, here is what I perceive to be the similarities and differences on this board compared to 15 years ago. I know no one asked, but sometimes I just offer up little nuggets of nothingness for free.

What still is...
The board is still largely supportive of players who have messed up. The majority here were mad at Teasdall, but seem to have forgiven him. The same could be said for Geoff Rigsby when his errant snap went over the head of our punter and caused us to lose the GT game back in '03 or '04 I think it was.

This board is constantly being looked at by players and recruits. The aforementioned Rigsby used to post here fairly frequently.

Any time anything bad happened at any point in the game, a deluge of posts would follow about, "Well, we just lost the game" even though there was 14:55 left to play in the first quarter. Sound familiar?

There were the same types of people creating multiple accounts so they could agree with themselves or continue posting when one username got banned.

This board is still the most active, most informative, most chaotic, most frustrating, and best Clemson board on the internet.

LBOD's still dominate the Lounge and just as it was 15 years ago, the Lounge is full of a different breed of poster.

What used to be...
Away games to UVA had almost entire days devoted to posts about pergolas and how much fear they drove into opponents. You would literally see hundreds upon hundreds of posts about pergolas. Crump put a stop to that though. Man, those were hilarious days.

Much higher proportion of Scar-related posts back then (though less in the past couple weeks which is refreshing).

When there was a Scar post, it linked to the old FGF site (now defunct) prior to its merger with Rivals. TrooperDel was a major topic. Catahoula and TrooperDel had some pretty epic exchanges. It was mostly because Trooper was certifiably insane.

The site would bog down and sometimes crash on game day.

There was much less moderating, so inappropriate posts would stay up for a very long time some times.

There were far fewer stories on the main page. Some main stories would stay up for close to a week.

Dan Scott was the contributing correspondent and he seemed to be only part time.

The pumper / dumper debate. There were no distinctions between camps back then.

Your IP address used to be posted in each of your posts. Naturally, this led to some shenanigans.

There used to be many more general Clemson topics posted. I guess the creation of new boards like the Amphitheater changed that.

I have no proof, but I feel like there was a much higher proportion of students on the board back then.

------------------------------

For those that have been around for a long time, I'd love to hear some additions.

Sounds like modern day USA, govern, control and conform to a few wishes. Caitlyn is a beautiful woman" translates to agree with me and my authority of we will " check your privilege ! " ;) But back in my day Johnny Unitas had a hair cut and high tops you could set a watch to :D

The funniest day hands down was when someone posted the naked pictures of, was it northalabama something? Can't remember the poster handle, but it was funny for days.

Oh yeah! TigerTide I think his name was.

Man, there was fallout from that for sure. I had completely forgotten about that.
