polls shouldn't be put out until mid october imo. Because all they do is create controversy and stir up useless banter. No one really knows who anyone is at this point. You should have played at least half of your games before you're ranked......unless its just some blogger poll or some private entity. But there should be no official polls available until after your 5th game.

Im pretty sure the Sagarin formula doesnt really start kicking in until around week 3 or so.
"For the first few weeks of the season, the starting ratings have weight in the process(BAYESIAN), but once the teams are all WELL CONNECTED, then the starting ratings are no longer used and all teams are started equal and the RATING, ELO-CHESS, and PURE POINTS (PREDICTOR) are then done in an UNBIASED manner from that point on."
