Clean up the turnovers. Cade take a step or two forward and the Oline show some improvement. The receivers take a step or two forward. This is a different team.
I think we have a better chance against Georgia than what we are being given.

Even with the subpar O play, the turnovers killed us more than anything else. We beat Duke easily if don’t turn the ball over. We beat FSU if we don’t give up the scoop and score. We don’t lose to Miami if we don’t fumble on the goal line. The only game that really didn’t matter with turnovers was NCST. We just couldn’t do anything that game, although we did give up a pick 6.
There was an obvious correlation between us finishing the season 5-0 and winning the turnover margin in each of those games.
Agree that if those are addressed, and the offense is just even slightly better, we should be a playoff caliber team.

Guess what........Kentucky beats us w/o turning it over 4 times.
what if Notre Dame doesn't turn the ball over 3 times??? what if USC doesn't turn it over twice??
Turnovers are part of the game and they go BOTH WAYS. We had a 3-3 "close game" record (1 score games)......the rest of the games weren't that close one way or another.

You missed the entire point. By us cleaning up the turnovers & winning the turnover margin, we were able to capitalize on other teams mistakes.
We lost every game we lost the turnover margin. The point is, we cleaned that up, started winning the turnover margin, and guess what happened? Sorry if that is too difficult to understand.

WE WEREN'T GOOD ENOUGH. That's what happens. We had 6 "50/50" games where turnovers did decide it...........our Coaching nor our talent was good enough to prevent or overcome them each time. Our 2015 was VERY turnover prone, particularly DW4, but the difference was he and EVERYONE around him was elite enough to shrug it off and go score a few TDs to overcome or balance it out.

When you have NFL caliber receivers and a two-time Heisman contender at QB, it makes up for a lot.
That’s an anomaly, not the norm. You don’t need that to be successful—look at Michigan last year or even the Bama team with Coker. It just takes minimizing turnovers with above average offensive play & a solid defense.
But please, don’t let me drag you out of pessimisity.

Michigan had like 13 players drafted in this years draft which I believe was the most of any college this year.
I imagine Bama with Coker was the same way.
It takes ELITE players to win/compete for a national title. We haven’t had enough elite the last 3 years. We will see how many we have in ‘24. Fingers crossed.
Btw. It’s not pessimism it’s realism. You should try it.

well he didn't have a 12 team playoff. 10-2 right now puts you in a great spot for the ACC championship, and an automatic bid, or an at large.

Um 10-2 is getting in a 12 team playoff you seriously expect to be undefeated every year?

A monumental upset is in the works. I know our players and coaches have thought about beating them for months. I doubt the dawgs worried about us too much.

Duke whipped us on both sides of the ball. They looked like the better team personnel wise which was shocking. That, more than anything from last season, cost us national respect. It was similar to the Notre Dame game the year before but that game was a nightmare from a scheme and play calling standpoint such that it got Streeter fired.

No they didn't. Clemson ended the game more dominant stat wise. The turnovers is what made the difference. You take away everything Duke got off turnovers (scores, yards, etc), Clemson thoroughly dominated them. Scoreboard didn't show it because they scored 21 of their points off Clemson turnovers.

Thanks for the suffering to give us hope. It just seemed like every play last year was so hard. There was never a wide open TE down the middle or a RB catching a easy ball in the flats. It seemed the opponent new what play was being ran.

They did. We were only capable of running a few plays. When nobody can catch the ball past 20 yards, you are greatly handcuffed on offense

Cade still looked good in those losses, just the mistakes needed to be cleaned up. But most of Cade's mistakes were cause bc of the O line not holding blocks and allowing heavy pressure to get to Cade before he ever had a chance to look up, and he would try to force something good to happen that went bad...

He will settle down more this year ..maybe enough to get us 2 more wins over 2023.

Over all the lines of scrimmage will determine that game. If our OL is truly improved then I think we can keep it close as long as Cade can just be a decent game manager. Find open receivers, don’t take unnecessary sacks, and don’t turn the ball over.

Few years ago, DW4 we could cough up a couple turnovers, DW4 throw a couple pics and we still win by 20.
We had a lot of terrible nerves last year, but we were a very mediocre team last year.
We certainly can be much better this year.

We also have had the worst luck we’ve ever had. Go back and watch the GT game where Deshaun threw one of the worst INTs I’ve ever seen yet GT fumbled it into the endzone, we ended getting two points and the ball back. People really forget how those years were, we weren’t perfect by any means and the breaks went our way more than not.

hit that potential game-winner vs FSU, and our D held on for the W ahead of OT.
Hard to believe that we wouldn't have found a little more inner after not to lose to Miami or NC State over that stretch. The story behind Dabo grabbing a grad kicker with eligibility in between career gigs the week prior and that delivering in that moment would have been epic. One yard wide left?
Footballs. Oblong balls be tricky, yeah?

I seem to recall Mafa having a bad one, too, last season, but if memory serves me correctly, Ship fumbled more and at the worst times.

I think its just a mindset thing

the moment they click that mindset over to believing they are better than everyone else is the moment they'll take that next step. The mindset of "here we go again" can be contagious. If there is any coach in America that knows how to click that mindset over its Dabo so hopefully he's got Cade believing.
