Why all of the bickering about ticket prices?
Oct 15, 2013, 11:58 AM
|
|
If someone wants to sell something that THEY OWN, shouldn't they be allowed to ask any price they wish?
Its really pretty simple - if you don't want to pay what they ask, then don't buy. I walk by things every day that I would love to have, but can't justify spending whats on the price tag.
Sounds pretty petty for someone to come on here and say "you shouldn't charge that". You might as well say - "I don't have tickets and can't afford them either" or "will someone sell me a cheap ticket so I can go to the game?"
I think the ones complaining probably do not have a ticket. And FYI - I don't have a ticket either, but wouldn't expect someone to hand me one either (has the influence of Gov't handouts really gotten to this level?).

I don't like that people sell tickets to the other team's fans.

of their team as the FSU fans do of theirs, then they should step up and pay more for the tickets that they are willing to sell.

No problem selling them to Clemson fans-charge what you
Oct 15, 2013, 12:09 PM
|
|
want:
But it's like this: A free market for Clemson fans to Clemson fans is like a free market for Americans to Americans.
But when North Korea or Iran wants to come over and purchase the White House or the Grand Canyon or whatever great American company or venue then IMHO it is a closed market in America.
When FSU (or USuC fans-ala 2010)fans want to fill your stadium and gobble up Clemson fan tickets it should also be a closed market in Clemson to these outsiders who are against the Tigers.

I agree. The griping by both sides is getting old.

If you don't have a ticket, and you want one, it isn't someone else's responsibility to sell you one just because you are a Clemson fan and want to go. If you want a ticket badly enough, you could have made the investment for season tickets to begin with, or pay the going market rate now.
Likewise, for those selling tickets, it isn't the buyer's job to help you recoup your IPTAY investment. It isn't their concern how much you give, or how long you have been giving. The price you sell your ticket for should be based on what the market will bear, whether that is $300 for FSU or $15 for Citadel.

Limit you to selling what you "own" by $1 over face?
Secondly, only a sucker would pay over face value for a ticket.

Now I don't understand those paying crazy amounts of money for a ticket, but that doesn't make them wrong. It is their money.

Not so much. The likely way this transpires is that an undercover cop tries to buy the ticket from you. It's a crime to merely offer the ticket for sale at the high price. You don't have to actually sell it. So as soon as you offer it to the cop, they can charge you with that offense. You never get to sell the ticket, and you still have to pay the fine.
