Where does Ole Miss get all their NIL money?

One of the poorest states in the Nation with another SEC team in the state yet ole Lane chas continuously bought heavily from the Portal for 3-4 season now. Miss St doesn't seem to be in the same arena at all. Just seems like Ole Miss is out bidding multiple schools like Auburn, Florida, or even Arkansaa and Mizzou with no state competition really.

I wondered but not sure that explains it all. You don't hear about major industry or famous persons affiliated.

Sidenote: I read where one of the Walmart Waltons was going to invest into NIL for Arkansas. That could change their use substantially.

I saw a movie where one of their big boosters owned a bunch of Taco Bells and KFCs. The dude must sell a whole lot of cheap tacos and a buckets of fried chicken. He and his wife also tricked a homeless dude into becoming a D1 football player and playing at Ole Miss before having himself an NFL career.

Correct. Concentrated pockets of wealth at the top of the economic food stream in an impoverished state. Most of this inter generational money can be traced back to slaveholding plantation owners. “ By 1860 there were more millionaires per region in Mississippi than in any other place in the United States.” https://www.unpaidlabor.com/blog/entry/mississippi-america-s-richest-state

With that being said, the real players in pay for play would view Ole Miss’s capabilities as pedestrian.

Same place Duke and SC did. They are promising money they haven’t gotten yet. The transfers are depending on the house vs ncaa case being settled in April. That $20 million dollar per team the ncaa is going to give schools. They are screwed if the case gets pushed to 2026.

Earned money no matter how rich you are to 18-21 year olds playing college sports. I love college football, played it, coached it and now own business and would never give my money to these kids playing college football. There is 0 return and it’s not even tax deductible. I love Clemson and want them to win every game but I’m not paying players to do it. You can barely justify the value with almost any of them. I guess unless you value your favorite college teams wins more than your money lol.

One of the wealthiest men in Mississippi, who might have been the wealthiest at the time of his passing in 2018, was Ole Miss grad Leslie B. Lampton.

Mr. Lampton was the founder of Ergon, which is an oil refiner HQ’d in Jackson, MS. He has three sons; Robert, Lee, and (I forget the other son’s name). The Lampton family does not come from ‘old money’ as it is typically referenced. Ergon was founded in the 1950’s.

I don’t know if the Lampton boys are involved in fundraising for or as donors to Ole Miss athletics.

Keep in mind some of the schools paying big money to freshman and sophomores are already ending up with a roster management problem and will have bigger problem a year or two down the road when the whole roster wants big money.

Tennessee almost had a mass exodus of players end of this season. I heard it got ugly. Every player on the team wants a pile of money.

Also, keep in mind Mississippi has no professional sports teams. No place else for the money to go.

Think about couple decades ago when the only NFL teams in the south were Atlanta, New Orleans andTampa Bay. Miami is on a different planet. No Titans no Panthers. All the money floated into College Football.

Some old deep pockets. Ole Miss has been cheating for years and settling lawsuits long before before NIL came into play. Local clothing store was paying for signatures. Nkimdeche switching commitment. Etc.
