We have a Dabo Problem...

and what a wonderful problem it is. Here is how I see it...Dabo loves every one of his players like they are is flesh and blood, a biological son. He has witnessed the struggles DJ has endured on and off the field. I truly believe this is all about loving DJ and what will be best for him if/when football is over. He wants to give him every chance to succeed and if he fails, be sure DJ knows he was given every opportunity to succeed and unfortunately things don't always workout how we want, regardless of the effort we put in. Dabo has recognized the family issues DJ has gone through, the media scrutiny among other things that could have broken his spirit. By all accounts, DJ is an outstanding person and teammate.
Look for Dabo the "dad" to start preparing DJ what his future holds but not at starting QB1 and by Wake Forest, Dabo the "coach" to insure this team is ready to make a playoff push. It is such a fine line to walk.
If I had a son that played college football, there is only one coach in the country I would want him to play for and that is Dabo. There is more to life than the game and I think he is preparing DJ for this and insuring his confidence, dignity and mental wellbeing remains intact.
The keys will belong to Cade soon enough.

So what is the problem? Will his decision cost us wins?

Adding and subtracting doesn't describe Dabo. Your post is spot on. Dabo is a man who loves and considered his players far above his esteem for fans.

If you recall what Rencher said, when every social justice warrior with a platform and a typewriter was beating Dabo up, Darrian said; if I had ten opportunities to play, I'd play for Coach Swinney every time. Says a lot about the coach.

To me, it's like the way I saw TL and Kelly B. Everyone critical of Dabo, was saying; he's giving TL every chance to win the starting job. The way I saw it, and I may very well be wrong, I'm not an expert, but I thought he was giving Bryant every chance to keep the job. I think he knew how it was going to end. I really hope DJ succeeds for us; however, and I know it was a different situation, late in the game, their defense was worn down, and probably had already given up, but when Cade led that final drive, that looked more like the Clemson offense of DW and TL.

So, I guess Dabo didn’t love on Kelly B. as much? I am confused. The man makes 8-9 million a year. Every coach has his own style that works for him to be a perennial winner. I think Bobby Bowden used this tactic perfectly.

It will probably play out exactly like it did with Bryant/Lawrence. Dabo gave Bryant every opportunity, but Lawrence simply played better. I can't remember the first game off hand, but didn't it play out the same? Bryant played the whole first game (?), they alternated drives games 2-3, and then it was announced that Lawrence would go out the first drive (still alternating) in game 4. Bryant had to make his decision before game 4 or his career was over. DJ has the option of hanging around to see how it plays out. I don't see how Dabo has yet treated DJ any better/worse than Bryant.

Well, now I'm confused. Where did I write, Dabo did, or didn't love KB any more or less? If he were giving him every chance to keep the job, I would think the slant would be in KBs favor, if favoritism were being shown at all, but Like I said; I'm not an expert, and I'm not in the 8 or 9 million dollar mans head.

Did CU tell him politely to hit the bricks? He certainly has a lower profile than he did 2 or 3 years ago.

Where did his younger son wind up playing. I think he was leaning heavily toward the real USC, but I haven't been paying attention lately.
