From an Iowa State fan

For what it is worth, Iowa State fans are really excited about the prospect of having Clemson in the Big 12. I have been following this message board pretty closely the last few days to gauge your fan base's interest in the potential move. Even though it likely means more losses, getting a big-name program like Clemson to join the league is exciting.
Even though Oklahoma and Texas get all the publicity, and are the reason the Big 12 is a "football conference," the schools like Iowa State, K-State and Texas Tech all have a strong focus on football. It has not always been that way (especially with Iowa State), but we welcome any Clemson fans to Ames if the conference move goes through, and are confident the football environment at the second-tier football schools in the Big 12 is one you would enjoy.

this board who want to stay in the ACC. They are a small, misguided minority who have been brainwashed into thinking that if we hitch our wagons to UNC, we will somehow be better off as a university and football program.

we'd enjoy football at any-tier football schools the Big 12 has to offer.
Would a Clemson, Iowa St. be the farthest traveled game for the conference?

Actually, in the Dallas area, there's about an hour and a half difference between Texas Tech and Kansas in drive time. 6.5 vs 8 hrs, for the latter. That's a weekend getaway. Ames is a flight..it's about 12+ hrs, driving. I like that area. Looks like everyone will need to become nomadic. GO TIGERS!!!

Ames is a little over 1,000 miles from Clemson. I think Lubbock is the farthest trip. That would be just over 1,250 miles.
Des Moines, which is about 45 minutes south of Iowa State, has a direct flight from Charlotte. That flight is just over two hours, so if making it to Charlotte is easy, the trip should not be too bad.

at ISU, KSt or KU would be far better than at WF, Duke or BC. I feel that unless earth shattering changes are made within the ACC, we'll be out with you guys. How wold you feel about adding 2 other ACC schools, and possibly a Louisville, leaving the door open for an ND, so that we here in the eastern part of the country would have some regional rivals and all of us would have more managable travel? Seems to me the BigXII could really benefit by legit east/west divisions. Keep traditional rivals, expand TV, decrease travel

Lol's, you triggered some funny memories about the awful experiences I've had at run down, near-empty stadiums at Dook and Wake. I've gone to high school games with more people in attendance.

You guys remind me a lot of Cyclone fans. If I had to relate your fans to any fans in the Big 12 it would be ISU fans (at least in your demeanor).
No one hates ISU fans, from what Im told tailgating and visitng Ames is a great experience because of the fans. Its the only venue in the Big 12 I have never personally been to though.
They show up even when their team is bad. It's just a good group of folk.
