Now that they are no longer a basketball school, Belichick thinks he can get them in the Sunbelt and win a few titles.

Keep an eye on their women's basketball team. UNC May end up like the coots and just become a women's basketball school. UNC is #15 in women's hoops.

The Big 12 You Tubers/ social media people always have reliable sources and love to talk about an ACC implosion more than their own conference. You should consult them.

that UNC was a silent partner with FSU and Clemson. At the end of the day, I think UNC is content to just sit back and let FSU and Clemson do the dirty work. I have not seen or heard anything concrete supporting that UNC is committed to leaving the ACC.

I've seen several postings about it but nothing credible, UNC has had good results in a lot of sports over the years, they would be sought after by the SEC or BG10.

The SEC could use another "Whipping School" in football other than the Coots. UNC and UVA would be perfect to pad UGA And Bama's football schedule.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

UNC would probably prefer Big10. They are way too snotty

Yeah. UNC and UVA would add to that already tough "gauntlet". I don't see how the SEC can stay relevant if they keep adding all these tough teams. I mean it just means more as we all know. Although UNC and UVA would immediately be in the top 25 every year just by being in the SEC so that might be good for them.

tnet-military.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, they are going back to natural grass for football.

Don’t think they’re the only ones. I would imagine UNC wants out badly (because they know they’ll be sought after) and I think Virginia/Virginia Tech and NC State are definitely putting feelers out there because they want to have somewhere to land if crap hits the fan and also because I think they would also want to know how they would fair in a conference expansion.

So Clemson, UNC and Florida St want out and the rest maybe between 6 and 10 other teams are curious and wanting to make sure they do their due diligence.

UNC is looking and talking privately. They have taken the "other approach" than Clemson and FSU. If you don't have orange colored glasses, you could make a very good argument that UNC is the best brand and school to attract to your conference. Both the SEC and BiG would probably choose them first.

This doesnt have anything to do with past records. This has to do with geography, alumni base, breadth of sports and just as important $$$$. I know personally one of the RAM club board members and he has unlimited pockets, even more so than Michael Jordan. His private equity company also happens to be in Boston, MA. That's not a coincidence.

Laugh all you want at their lack of success in football and their bad year in basketball. But the UNC brand is a valuable one.

UNC is a good national brand and they will have a home in one of the P2.

However, they are not a revenue producer in the most important sport. You can check the ratings. Clemson in Florida State far exceed them in that most important department
