From what I’ve seen the coach was not extended after a good season. The kids followed the coach to his new job in the same conference.

I'm one that thinks the portal shouldn't be open right before or during bowl games bc it puts coaches and team in a bad position with depth and starters in some situations. But that's just another thing they've done to harm the sport!!!

I'm one that thinks the portal shouldn't be open right before or during bowl games bc it puts coaches and team in a bad position with depth and starters in some situations. But that's just another thing they've done to harm the sport!!!
Just curious as to how an athlete is supposed to get enrolled at a new school in the spring semester that starts the second week of January if the transfer portal doesn't open until the first week of January?

Some do at Clemson, some don't. I went to Clemson a decade ago. I can say with 100% certainty that some of Clemson's stars did not go to class. I was in Spanish with one of our stars. He came to maybe 3 classes all semester. I thought he'd dropped the class until he showed up for the final. I was in the History of African-Americans in Sports with maybe 5-10 players, a couple of which were well-known stats. Some of them came to class almost every day (offensive linemen were good about that). Our stars literally never came to class and I only know they were in the class because of finals/their names appeared on the attendance sheet.

I didn’t say they shouldn’t. I am saying the bowl decision by the school is because of the portal. Not because of the coach.

They offered him extensions every season going back to when they defeated Notre Dame...He kept turning them down because he was interviewing at other schools every year....He wanted out during his first season...He was almost fired after last season & should've been...He picks up a haul of college football mercenaries and they get hot..win the SBC championship and then Huff and the other coaches get many of the kids to follow the piper to USM. I'm not sure he is even making more than he did at Marshall...If so it isn't by much.
