Only one reason for a study like this to be commissioned: private equity ownership of university sports entities.
Disgusting

They have done lists like this for years, based on various metrics. Clemson usually falls in between 25 and 35. Never seen us ranked in the top 20 based on the metrics. On a revenue or budget basis we are always way behind the top 10 schools. Texas and Texas A&M charge MUCH more for tickets, have top athletic budgets, and put over 100,000 in in the seats every week!
Dabo understands our situation and recruits accordingly. Same with Basketball…..
I saw that Kirby may have $34 Million to buy players with this year for Georgia. And they don’t care about their graduation rate.
It takes special people, fans, students, players and coaches to keep Clemson competitive!
Go Tigers!

Thanks for pointing some of the things out like 100,000 in the stadium. Also Clemson in the lousy conference that the revenue is behind the other big 2.

Hard to believe a school like Clemson could even compete with that much difference.

It has been this way for decades. Just want CDS and other CU leaders to stay the course. Isn't Clemson the only major school to win 3 Nattys in football and four in soccer? And baseball and basketball aren't shabby either.

CNBC also did one last month that had Clemson at #16, with #1 being almost 2x us. I dispute that Norte Dame should be listed as an ACC school, their value comes mainly from FB which is independent. There is also not another ACC school that is within $110M of us.
But that's a pretty big different between $800M (CNBC) and $439M (WSJ)

It's about what I would expect. It clearly shows the gargantuan divide, that gets wider every day. With Clemson, Sakerlina, Coastal, and numerous FCS schools in a state with a small population, it's really a testament to Clemson. Besting the "flagship" school by that wide of a margin is pretty awesome.
This just shows how badly the deck is stacked against all but 10-15 schools. Ponder this for a second, what would Dabo amd Co. Do if we had the money of a Texas, UGA, Notre Dame, OHST, etc?

…I’d say that Clemson has “made hay” with that valuation.
I’ll take it.

Clemson is priceless to me so I didn't read the article.
I had the dream job, Combustion Engineering. I worked at the Chatt, TN plant with people who drove 70+ miles to and fro daily. Yes, other than the railroad or perhaps Dupont it was the best job TN offered for unskilled labor. I was promoted to helper on machines which manufactured and produced nuclear reactors.
One of the shops melted and mixed metals to produce high tech state of the art steel and alloys and just about every department, other than design, in the production of vessels which are still in service today.
I started $7.31/hr(1971) with my insurance, life and health, cost to me of $3.31/mo and they had to lay off 500 workers by seniority to get rid of me.I was at CE for 5 years and making over $13/hr in 1975. I loved every new assignment so they moved me often which gave me opportunity to train on every boilermaker skill there except welding. I was learning to weld from the welders in the shops I worked in.
The EPA got roided up and shut down almost all nuclear production. Two complete vessels sat on train cars out back when Exxon and Arkansas Power canceled the orders.
CE kept just enough to build replacement parts for products they sold previously and consolidated all the work in other locations. They laid off 500 employees the first week and I got sent to the unemployment line on the next layoff list.
Chattanooga and the surrounding area had so many job seekers it was almost impossible to find a job. I had worked in construction and back to construction I ran. Unfortunately, when Jimma empowered the EPA it resulted in interest rates climbing as high as 22% and the construction when almost to zero.
I moved to G'vegas looking for work and found it much better than most of the rest of America. I was simply trying to survive and feed my family when God reminded me I hadn't finished my education. By the time He convinced me to get a degree I lived less than 10 miles from Clemson.
Had It been UGA, Bama, USCe or TN I wouldn't shame God by telling this story.

Personally I don't see any value in the coots what so ever other than taking up space. Also a plugged nickel comes to mind and thats being nice.
