Wat if SMU loses to just Virginia, how would they decide tie breaker?

I believe it would come down to Louisville or Virginia being a better win in the ACC standings. Louisville is 4-2 with a trip to Stanford and hosting Pitt to close ACC action and Virginia in that scenario being 4-3 with a trip to Virginia Tech left. Virginia also lost to Louisville so the Cavaliers would have to be a game clear of them most likely.

I think the odds on SMU is way off! I think they are very, very good, and with their schedule it looks to me like they could easily go undefeated, including the ACC Championship. I hope there is a way for the Tigers to get there and win it, but with the schedules it seems very apparent that SMU has a PAT hand.

they’re likely gonna play for the Big 12 title. All they have left are two terrible teams in Kansas and OK state, and Utah without their Starting QB Cam Rising.

Miami could certainly lose in the carrier dome which would put us in. SMU also plays VA. As of now the better win would be Louisville for UM & SMU but if VA wins out & UL drops a couple that could possibly change a 1 loss tiebreaker scenario also. Go Tigers!!

There is one thing that us Tiger faithful should never ever forget, that is if there is a way twisting the numbers that would keep Clemson out of the ACC championship game, and that even means if they have to use a non conference team as in Notre Dame with their ACC wins, they will also use that to keep a founding ACC member out of the ACC championship game. Once they have twisted the wins and losses against Clemson in the ACC, they will then use that to keep Clemson as far away from the playoff games as they possibly can.
These are the facts, and they don't care who agrees with their twisted facts bc that is the way that it is and has always been when it comes down to keeping Clemson out of their make up the rules as they go format.
Our fans, coaches, players, and everyone from the outside know this is the way that it works, and only Clemson can control their future only with winning!!!

If I had a choice between Mayo and Holiday Bowl. Let it be the Holiday. Something different and like that it's on FOX and not SECPN.

I was thinking about the common opponent piece and how we lost to L’ville but SMU and Miami beat them so we’re essentially two losses behind them. But wouldn’t that then apply to SMU if they were to lose to UVA? We would then have a similar scenario with them and UVA as they do with us and Lville, no? It would then appear that we only need SMU to lose once, to UVA, then our tiebreak with them would have to go down to the next tie break criteria. Thoughts?

I've got it earlier in the thread here, but the issue is that the next tiebreaker would be essentially be who has the best win ("Record against the highest finished (by record) common opponent."), and Louisville is likely that team to boost SMU. Better record now than Virginia and beat them head-to-head.

I see what you are talking about but bottom line our loss to Louisville really hurt us.
