This seems very fair and reasonable.

Texas may be favored

and have the advantage on paper, but we have to play the game. I know full well we have talent and we've seen flashes of brilliance. We put together 4 quarters of Clemson football and no one stops us. GO TIGERS!!!

I agree. We have been bad this year because we have played one or two, or even three quarters in a game. In our best game we didn't play 4 quarters. If we do, WHEN we do, we will beat anyone.

Go Tigers.

" Clemson might have long odds to reach the national championship, but don't sell a two-time national champion short."

Idiots

Since this assessment article was limited to the highest level analysis, it’s reasonable that there was no elaboration regarding one major specific deficiency about TX’s offense -and- one major specific deficiency about Clemson’s defense were not mentioned.

That both of these major deficiencies converge to create an unusual advantage for Clemson in this particular game, an addition to the assessments are worth thinking about.

(1). TX offense, when Ewers is playing, is very susceptible to the blitz. UGA proved that putting big pressure on Ewers wrecks TX’s offense.

(2). Clemson’s defense was especially bad at contain8ng the QB scramble. Let’s forget about S.Carolina QB Sellers and SMU QB Jennings, both of whom we were nearly helpless. Look at Louisville QB Shough and Pitt QB Yarnell. Both are (compared to Sellers and Jennings) statuesque. Yet, both Shough and Yarnell got impressive runs by scrambling. These QB scrambles were most damaging (perhaps also somewhat demoralizing) on 3rd downs. These drive-sustaining runs set up several of the gash-our-defense big running plays by Louisville’s and Pitt’s RBs.

(*). Ewers is less mobile than both Shough and Yarnell, especially in his not-fully healthy condition. If ever we are to be able to contain a very good team from hitting in long RB runs, it will be vs TX. Three-&-outs should be easier to pull off than vs Louisville and Pitt. This might work out to be the difference in the game, but we will not win if even Ewers successfully scrambles for 5+ yard 3rd down conversions.

If we come out strong, play well, effectively slow down or shut down Ewers, and take a 2 score lead before halftime (ultimately best case scenario). I don't think it will take very long for Texas to put in Arch, and attempt to use his running ability to open up the RB run and passing game.

It wouldn't even surprise me if they put him in situationally early in the game, just to give us something else to think about.

Having Arch sitting on the bench is their ace in the hole. I hope we've prepared for him because I'd be shocked if we don't see him at some point.

Just as I've already said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Sarkisian started Manning bc of our inability to stop running QBs!!!
